A Land Far Away

I may be remembered, I may not. I certainly remember a lot of the people that look to be active currently.

I was digging for old accounts associated with my name, email, and usernames, and stumbled onto a bit of roleplay I wrote over in the Library. Hundreds of memories, hours and hours of amazing roleplay came rushing back in an instant, and brought a big smile to me.

I joined ALFA back 2004 (I think?), I was still in High School, and was an incorrigible little shit - who happened to be an okay roleplayer. This community put up with me, taught me to be better at RP, and helped foster with me a love for fantasy, roleplay, and storytelling. I stopped playing about a year after NWN2 came out, distracted by LARP, WoW, and general young adult life. Since then I helped create several LARPs, helped write a few game worlds, and helped run the tech side of things for a group of 5000 roleplayers in a LARP.

I pursued my gaming and storytelling passion with abandon, nestled alongside my tech skills, and have now found myself working at Blizzard Entertainment. I get to work in the gaming industry, and I spend lots of my free time helping people turn their flat characters into deep, enriching, and nuanced people.

A large portion of my passions, and what I do as a Storyteller & Gamer in general, goes back to my roots as a member of this community. So I just needed to thank you all for being world-class roleplayers - who let me join your world for a little while when I was a kid.

Right now coming back is not good for me between work, LARP, and a new baby, but if I ever feel the itch for some online RP, I know where I will be headed first.

Always good to hear these sorts of stories; ALFA seems to have groomed more than a couple developers out of folk who joined while they were in school. Hope some time for our breed of RP materializes in the future-- we'll do our best to keep the lights on.

On that note, you guys might consider digging up people's email addresses attached to their accounts and sending out an invitation to return, and current timeslots people are playing heavily in. Just one little invitation, nothing spammy, make it pretty

I remember your forum debates from way back but was trying to remember which server(s) you frequented. Were you on The Long Road mostly or for a significant period of time?

I was on TLR a fair bit, but I mostly lived on Waterdeep next door.

Notable Characters:
Female Wizard in the Player Faction of Followers of Tiamat (all over the place, home base was Waterdeep).
Female Paladin of Kelemvor - Dalelands (Died to Misty's drow in an arena)
Male Wizard, on path to Loremaster - I've forgotten the server for that one.

I died more times than I can count . Something like 30 characters IIRC.
