Midsummer Festival

Post by Analogkid »

Word begins to spread, first in the isles, then to the mainland, as merchants, travelers and others begin to hear of the grand Midsummer Festival, that will be held on Alaron Isle starting on the 30th of Flamerule, some rumours suggest that Queen Alicia Kendrick herself will sponsor the grand festival. From what many can hear it will be time of much feasting, entertainment and yes.....tournaments.

Well now....I began discussing this with some others shortly after the last greengrass festival on BG, put on by zelk, since I think its time we begin doing these kinds of activities and events a little more often then once a year to that end, and now with the full backing of the MS team and our leader Ariana....

In mid July, we will be holding the Midsummer Festival on MS.

I have a couple days off the week of July 13, .....so i'm thinking to run this through July 15-19.

The planned contests will include the following. Though in addition, there will be opportunities for PCs to work for the festival in addition to simply enjoying the festivities and entering contests. Depending how many get into some of the contests there will be splits between novice and expert rankings, though be prepared for more then just PCs to enter any given contest.

Swordfighting

Wrestling

Archey

Mage duels

Arm Wrestling

Food eating contest (might change up things by trying something other then pies.

Drinking contest

Bardic/Entertainment contest (contestants may enter individually or as part of a group)

Grand Melee. (teams of 3, give or take against each other) Will be the final contest of the festival

One thing to note is that I am in California so my preferred time to run contests will be PST focused for afternoons/evenings, though my hope is to run a couple things each day to try and get as many people into things as well.

As we get closer to the festival i'll post up more details, and some rumours but for now I just want to know roughly who will be able to make it and what contests people are interested in.

Caine would be into the duels, the grand melee, and arm wrestling. Sounds like great fun!

I'll see if I can bring Aglaril back from Evermeet for this weekend; possible (semi) discreet participation in swordfighting, mage duel, perhaps bardic contest; rest of it sounds fun to watch - I just don't know how much of it will be doable with weekend schedule atm.

Also pm'ed folks with an idea for this weekend that could spin off into a hook for other PCs (old and new of all levels) on MS; MS definitely merits more activity especially with the new management working hard on the server!

IF you want to have both of your PCs attend different events

I will allow it as long as one PC is off the server [not just logged out] before the other one comes on

For the duration of the Festival only

The opening day of the Midsummer Festival has arrived. The Regents Field is alive with activity as preparations are finally complete and people begin to arrive.

Many of the local folk of Caer Callidyr will inform visitors that the Regents Field is found about a few hours walk south on the well travelled High Kings Road, heading out of Caer Callidyr.
