AK DMA Thead

Post by Analogkid »

Well i'm running for DMA, what do I plan? well....

Pretty much continue what Castano has been doing. We need to try and bring back old ALFAns and at the same time we need to prepare for ALFAs future by looking to and preparing ourselves for such things as shards online and the like. I also want to foster greater communication between the DMs we have currently on every server. I feel this will help with keeping ALFA feel more like a PW and less like a campaign/session based world.

What about anything different you might ask? Well I would push to make the delay between playing on a server and DMing on a given server as short as possible, perhaps a week or so at this point. I also want to take a look cleaning up our current list of DMs and trying to recruit more DMs from within our community. I also support the idea of using other platforms be it IRC, R20 or a separate module within ALFA where it would be easier for DMs to prepare campaigns outside of the current servers. I wouldn't even mind it if we brought more servers into the current ALFA2 continuity. Also, I would see no issue with allowing a PrC class for both of a players PCs, I mean why limit it to just one of their PCs?. Anyways, let me know if you have any questions.

There's no delay for DMing after playing on a server. Only delay on playing after DMing, though I don't think it changes the point, right? Still same idea.

Anyways, Good luck.

Thanks man, anyways yeah the delay I had in mind was the one from DMing to returning to a server as a player. A Week seems pretty reasonable to me.

pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

Don't take English advice from kid. The sentence was correctly written in the original.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but would not the PrC for both pc's be more a Player Admin issue?

Dunno, DMs approve PrC, don't they? So i'd guess it depends on how you look at it.
(And I just realized i've a second PC i'd like to PrC, completely forgot it's not allowed).

I seldom post in these threads but I feel the need to ask all three candidates a few questions:

What are your reasons for being interested in the position?

Can you present 3 specific goals you would like to accomplish as DMA that you feel strongly about?

Do you believe that ALFA should remain a project that stays heavily dependent on the activity of DMs in order to function well?

If you answered yes to #3, do you have any thoughts on the eternal question, that of recruiting/training/facilitating/perpetuating DM activity in ALFA?

Current main: Ky - something

I feel I learned from my experience as LA. Honestly, I wasnt prepared for it at the time, due to various issues that were going on, but I feel I can devote the time and focus thats needed now. I've been around ALFA since day one and want to see it succeed. Outside of a few dumb comments made in anger now and then, I feel like I can get along with most folks while getting things taken care of.

Awhile back, along with castano we tried to offer incentives for DMing, and creation of content. I would try to keep that going and offer incentives for continued work on content. In regards to DMs and recruitment. Shorten the time it takes to again play on a server after DMing on that particular server. Another thing I would like to do, test out on a limited basis DMing where one plays under strict observation and very limited basis.
Do you believe that ALFA should remain a project that stays heavily dependent on the activity of DMs in order to function well?
Well thats what we have going over MMOs right? I still want to support efforts to bring about more static content, but yes ALFA lives off of what it gets from its DMs, and what they provide its players.

If you answered yes to #3, do you have any thoughts on the eternal question, that of recruiting/training/facilitating/perpetuating DM activity in ALFA?
Yes we need to try to get our current players to step up to DM, and support our current DMs to the hilt. At the same time we need to recruit the best we can.

How do you plan to make DMing more attractive so that we can have a steady flow of players willing to step up and DM?
