..find out where I logged out like 3 years ago and choose the appropriate server. I don't want to make a new toon when I have a perfectly good one I prepared earlier.

Hi anyone who remembers me.

Hi. I'll bet one of the marvelous tech team will help you out.

Log in and see if you get booted to quarantine. If you did, log out and try the next one in line :D

(I must be doing something wrong as I can't even log in with a test toon... That turned out to be the shortest return ever :) )

Foambats4all should be able to sort out your account status.

Try logging into MS and rolling a test toon - MS has no account requirements.

New cd key could be the issue?

What you're describing is indeed the symptoms of having changed your CD Keys since the last time you played in ALFA. Those have to behave like that because there is no longer a master server, and thus the only way we have to authenticate you is those CD keys.

Try making a new GSID; if that works, then we know that's the problem.

// edit-- also, don't log out if you go to quarantine. The ACR will just send you to the right server if you log into any server unless you explicitly decline to be portaled (that is, we assume you're not on a server to beg for validation unless you say "No wait don't send me back!")

the Zelknicator says:

"If they want an old character, the best way for us to get their public keys is for them to fail to log into a server and PM the exact time to us. That gives us the keys without faffing about IRC or picking out the public bits and authenticates the new guy as who they say they are (cuz forum accounts are passworded)"

Thanks Zelk & Foam.. You are quite right. I did get new keys due to my old computer blowing up. What a dumbass.. Chur

Oh wait.. just so I know I have this right -:

1. Log in with my toon on my old GSID and PM Zelk the exact time, GSID, Character name and server I attempted the log-in
2. make a new GSID
3. Make an Alt char somwhars and wait till my old one gets transferred by some wonderful tech volunteer to my new GSID? (since I can have two toons now I just read!!). Or do I need a rebuild on my new GSID?

Correct?

You have two options:

Transfer old GSID to new CD Keys:
1) Make a new temp account, the name doesn't matter. Just log in once, and PM Zelknolf or I with the name.
2) Wait for us to change your old account to this new key.
3) We likely won't transfer characters between GSIDs, that's rough.

Switch GSIDs:
1) Log in with a temp account.
2) Don't make it a temp account.
3) Rejoice.

The suggested flubbed login is for me to snatch your CD keys from it, so I can tell your old account to authenticate from it.

FoamBat's workflow is better. That puts your CD key on the database that I have to update. So I got your PM Thang and should be able to help you out, but others following after should do like Foam says.

We totally won't transfer characters to new GSIDs. That's waaaaaay harder than fixing the authentication on your old one.
