Queen Robyn Looking for Players

Post by Zelknolf »

Going to open up to ALFA before I go rummaging through things like the WotC boards, but we seem to be down to only a few players we can count on to show up / show up on time (RL has taken out Mick and Peter_Abelard, RL is probably about to take out BigDaddyBones).

So, I'm going to generally cast out looking for newish characters (levels 1-4) who are keen on some game; group could really use a healer now, as the old one's player is about to have a newborn, and I assume that all of his tiny quantities of spare time over the next 3d4+4 months will be spent sleeping.

I'll also conditionally take characters up to level 6, but we'll need agreements to make sure that your character doesn't upstage the lower-level PCs (that is, you can use your better powers and abilities to not die, but not to displace the meaningful abilities of our couple remaining original characters).

Of course, same promise made in the past stands-- new characters and lower-level characters can expect to basically swim in XP, as they endure more risk by virtue of being lower level, and folk pushing the upper limit can expect very little XP (but, on the plus side, there's game to play).

Currently we have Xanthea playing a ranger, Witchdoctor playing a rogue, and Rumple playing an "I died again." (currently a barbarian). Fearman also has a rogue, but can't make it on time as consistently.

We meet on Friday nights U.S. time

So it's sounding like some folk were lost due to schedules-- so this seems like an opportune time to be willing to change up the timeslot. Also interested in new folk, by the description above.

So folk who are interested,

Darn those non-trusting play-limiting archaic ALFA rules! #FistShaking
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

So can we not turn my call for players into a platform?

The next PA election is in February, and the next DMA election is in April. Those tend to be your most-likely opportunities to influence things like this. For the moment, I'm looking for people who can play right now under current rules, and the easiest everyman efforts to make play availability less bad would be to pick up some of that visibility/ PR work that completely stopped when Cloud left.

Based on the WhenIsGood and the folk who grabbed me in chat, I'm going to set the time for this at 2:00 U.S. Central on Sundays, starting with this Sunday, November 2.

I was hoping to play in this on November 2, but I do have to leave the house at 4:30 pm pacific (which is 6:30 pm central). So long as I can leave after 4.5 hours that day, we're good.

The following Sunday, November 9th I have the same schedule commitment. I don't know what's going on for the 16th yet. I may be moving my home that weekend or the following weekend.
