A Land Far Away

This is not a formal plan yet, just cooking some stuff and want to see if we have the hardware for it.

I have a desktop I could dedicate as a server. As I am not as technical as most, what kind of hardware are you looking for? Is this something we would ship to another member or just make sure it stays powered up and on the net?

No matter I will crank it up, and get the specs to send.

I could put together a linux box to host two (or more) NWN1 servers. No fancy vault shenanigans needed 'cause both servers would be on the same machine (and yes I've done this sort of thing before with NWN1).

that sounds like a plan Ronan. We don't need a vault etc for what we are thinking of doing.

Not for NWN1. BG for NWN1 works fine.

Though I think the problems have nothing to do with each other, Adanu.
BG2 has some host problems that will simply take time (or money? do we need to put in some cash?)

This is not a replacement for BG NWN2. Our NWN2 servers will be the core ALFA servers, we're talking about bringing some more gaming areas online rapidly because for one thing fresh territory often spurs interest. Though discussions are preliminary everyone involved so far has not advocated bringing TSM, MS or BG NWN1 back, as that's just duplication of the same setting. We're looking for stuff we don't have, e.g. a large dungeon-y urban setting like WD.

Its being dealt with. I only maintain it, not host it. There's not a lot I can do until we have working hardware. Setting up NWN1 hosts is also vastly quicker.

Cash isn't an issue. We first wanted to make sure this was yet another drive failure and not a mobo issue.
