PC Tools and custom macros

Post by The_Righteous »

If I remember things correctly it is possible to write custom macros in the PC Tools - Miscellaneous section.

Is it possible and if so how does it work/how is it done?

Could you clarify what you mean by macros?

Depending on what you wish to accomplish, there will be a different set of answers.

Open PC Tools ----> Options ----- Display Text Macro Panel, select "Yes".

Now a separate box will appear with 5 pages of blank macros that can be filled with text.

Right click on the blank numbered macro you wish to populate. The upper panel will be the displayed name of the macro (for example "Drink Ale") . Hit the "apply" option. The lower blank will be the text that is displayed when in the future you left click the macro ( *wipes the foam from his thick red beard and lets out a satisfied belch* ). Again hit the "apply" option.

The text macro will remain until you delete it.

hope this helps!

Of note that in this case your PC will speak the literal text of whatever is in the macro.

e.g. "/p *poke*" will not send "*poke*" to the party channel, it will send "/p *poke*" as local speech.

If you're looking for macros like "I wish a quickslot that casts my buffs," then we need to go off into the Client Extension documentation.

Here is a step by step. Right click on your character and select PC-tools.
Image

Click on Miscellaneous.
Image

Click on Options.
Image

Select "Display Text Macro Panel" - Yes. Then click on apply.
Image

A new panel will show. Click on one of the buttons Macro 1 - Macro 9.
Image

Write a label for your macro and click on apply. The name on your macro label will disappear after clicking apply, but do not worry - it is there.
Select if you want the macro text to be normal talk "L", whisper "W" or party chat "P"
Write your macro text and click on apply then you click exit and you are all done. Just repeat to add more macros.

I am sure someone else can explain this better and prettier, but this works. I could not find it anywhere else.

Nicely done! Would you be interested in volunteering to do some additional documentation? :)
