Ronan's vilquari campaign, Sundays at 8pm eastern

For: Ideally brand-spanking new PCs, but existing lower-level PCs** can be included as well. PCs of any race, alignment and faith will be given reasons to work together towards a common goal***. There will be some railroading in the first session to properly group and "incentivize" the PCs.

Any underdark or exotic race can be included just fine, though the campaign will largely take place on the surface. This means you might face difficulties if you chose to play a KoS race. +disguise skill hats will not fall from the sky.

Nothing will keep involved PCs from playing outside of sessions, but out-leveling the rest of the party will be discouraged.

When: 8 pm EDT Sundays, starting on October 27th.

Please use the following tool to indicate what starting times of the week work for you: http://whenisgood.net/if8sska. Session lengths should be around 4 hours. In the "comments" section, please give a one or two sentence description of the PC concept(s) you had in mind. If you want to use an existing PC please include their level. Note: If you filled out the aforementioned form prior to August 25th, you'll need to do it over again because my hdd and ate the results. Sorry.

Expect:
  • A mystery which must be pieced together by the PCs.
  • To see areas of servers few or no one sees.
  • Challenge. Most people know I kill a lot of PCs. A good scout will not be optional, nor will healing, nor will following plot details and problem-solving. The difficulty level should be less than what my Sword's Edge players are accustomed to facing, but still higher than most are used to.
  • Meaningful death. I doubt everyone will get out of it alive, though hopefully many will. In the case of permanent PC death, a new (or existing) PC can enter the campaign.
  • An NPC leader who provides hooks. PCs are of course free to ignore said hooks, but the hooks may not ignore them.
  • The possibility of plot-related CvC. I'm not planning on encouraging it but I don't discourage it either.
  • Unique character development (though some may develop more than others, depending on how well their concept fits with the plot).
Length: I haven't decided yet, but I hope around nine months.

Characters:
  • Heero: Gnome druid.
  • OGR: 'My Dorf -- Thorri Blackhammer -- is a "Shock." Two handed greataxe, barb/fighter. "Shields be fer sissies!"'
  • kmj2587: I was planning on a wizard of the buff/battlefield control variety. I don't have character specifics yet and I'm willing to change if there end up being three or four people all trying to do the wizard thing. My second choice would be a medic, probably a cleric unless a Favored Soul would be preferred for one reason or another.
  • jmecha: Argos Klax is a young human man who after serving a term in the Cimbar City State Militia is now out traveling the world as a curious explorer looking to learn from the various different people and places that make up the Realms. He is a level 1 Rogue with whom I am more then willing to risk as our primary scout, he also has dipped into a variety of Knowledges so he may help fill fill any gaps in the Party's Lore.
  • Twin axes: Manly dorf flank-tank (rogue/fighter??)
  • Rumple: A really, really dumb orc.
  • Xanthea: Miscellaneous wizard.
  • dergon: Manly dorf bear-pugilist. Favoured soul?
  • Ithildur: Snobbish elf wizard. Maybe.
  • Lou: ??
  • Brokenbone: ??
  • puny: ??
  • Regas: ??
  • Witchdoctor: ??
Yikes, thats a big party! I'd to keep admission open and just see how many people show, and how the first session goes. Due to the nature of the plot it will be easier for me to "remove" PCs than add them.

Questions?

* Assuming I get approved to DM on WHL and TSM. If not, just half-global.

** PCs higher than the median party level may start with a handicap, such as no or incomplete spellbook, missing equipment, etc.

*** This motivation probably isn't going to be strong enough to make drow and elves or Selunites and Sharrans work together.

Subject to figuring out how to "not play on two servers at once outside of a DM session" (Rhaggot doesn't really leave BG, but this campaign may have action in BG?) I've got interest.

EDIT: It'd be a newbie PC, not Rhaggot.

I'm currently thinking the campaign will start on MS.

Heero, I see you checked off 7pm EST. How late can you stay up?

Sounds great! I'd love to join in on this with a new PC. Only caveats being I may need to put dming on Silvy on hold should we move the game there. Also, would need to move Merrin off BG if we're playing there.

Midnight at the latest. Would prefer 11pm stop time. Will sacrifice if others need accommodating.

Let me guess.... you're playing a chaotic-neutral dex-based elf with a mix of skills, charisma, and arcane casting.... probably with a funny hat?

ps- welcome back, johnny

pps-- I will give strong consideration to retiring Hully to get in on this at the ground level :)

What will be considered the "low-level" limit for this campaign?

I am level 2 and I will not play any longer until this thing starts.

Also, I have went to the barber in the bathhouse to see about getting a mohawk. Mohawks arent acceptable for wild elfs which is ok but unfortunately the barber doesnt give the shaved head hairstyle for wild elfs. Well I had the shaved head hairstyle when I showed up and now I have a long pont tail hairstyle. I have magically grown hair at the barber. Can I somehow have my shaved head back? Is this acceptable and doable? I dont think they have Rogain in Faerun. Thanks.

I didn't. I likely won't be able to start before Oct. I just meant that if your campaign lasts longer than expected it will put mine off longer.

I was hoping to play a PC around that time, though having global potential would be an issue for me. Will have to double check what the rules are for playing a PC solely during DM'd events. I've already had a player PM me about a similar complication.
