Does it get much lower?
There was a time not so long ago when I would gladly sepukku a PC to a wolf or goblin or whatever else rather than turn and run. After all, turning tail to run is a pretty bad freaking idea once engaged in combat, especially against something thatll outrun ya like a wolf. I can no longer count the number of PCs Ive lost to dumb crap because Ive believed their survival instinct would tell them to fight rather that to flee.
Well tonight on my way to the completion of a mail run, I endeavored to slay a mouse alongside the road. A mouse is worth 1xp; not much, but its something. The mouse was a wily creature, dodging my attacks over-and-over as even a RL mouse would. The number of attacks it dodged must have been 12, give or take, and no small feat for a creature with maybe 12 AC per DnD rules. The fight went one with the mouse hitting me once for a single HP (strong mouse is strong) despite its -3 (or was it -4?) to hit. For whatever reason, the mouse then decided to run.
With my PC in hot pursuit, the mouse found its way right to a badger. The badger seeing its mouse buddy in danger decided to join the fight against my PC. Now in the past I would have stood my ground. After all, there is no way a badger would stand a chance against a fully grown man covered in metal armor and armed with a sheild and sword, right? Wrong. This is DnD and a badger is a force to be reckoned with. Rather than standing to fight, and possibly die, as I would have done in the past, I ran to the nearest AT with the badger in hot pursuit.
Mail runs and running from wildlife....
Good grief, so much shame.

It could only be more awesome if you had it captured on video.

Now I'm getting misty eyed thinking of openly aggressive deer and the killer chickens of Shadowdale.
Good times.

There is something lower , you can die from a wandering Cormac.
Re: Does it get much lower?
The badger was fighting you for that mouse.
Also, you have learnt a great lesson.
Prudence.
Hence you still have your PC.
Dream of the day when you are lvl 3 and go back and wipe out that badger, and murder its children with your mighty lvl 3 feat.

Huntable animals in NWN2 need to be taken with a grain of salt. The system is not perfect, and the way factions work, yes they will all defend each other. So run away and pretend you killed the mouse valiantly.

Don't need to have played The Bard's Tale to know rats are freaking dangerous.
I believe Beregost's barn got firebombed and torched to the ground in protest of the countless lives the killer rat living within it claimed...

Shameful. Stick to building. Litter some woods and meadows with your own savage mice, or for high level challenges, berrygobblers.

I ended up going back and killing the mother effing badger. I also stood my ground and fought a horse that decided the squirrel I was fighting was its little buddy. Had I not been a class with access to healing spells, the horse would have gotten the better of me.
This crap aint for me.

We're all aware that many animals have been bugged in BG for a little bit of time, why hazard bug-death? Animals helping other animals, mercenaries helping the animals, mercenaries being attacked by animals but ignoring them, etc.

It does get lower -- my first ALFA PC ever was killed by a kick from a pony -- while running away.
