Playerbase shrinking?

Post by rorax »

Am i the only one with this feeling or others get the same impression that the playerbase got smaller lately?

I concur. I demand a reversal of this trend.

Admin decisions, other players being affected by that, and general schooltime hours. I've been seeing a lot of 'can't see the forest for the trees' from player and admin alike since I've been here.

Honestly, after hearing what happened to LC, I debated taking a break myself. I haven't played for a couple weeks due to lack of pop and the main MS cleric dying. I'll probably talk to fears bane about DMing. BG was too crowded so everyone went there and left everywhere else with almost no pop, compounded with the leveling rate and we're seeing a lot of people who are struggling to find decent groups.

I don't think.its as bad as all that. Just some folks are dealing with more rl stuff. We drop a few we gain a few. It will zigzag down over the years fore sure. The key I think is to get people into regular dm slots so they remain engaged.

I've been paying attention. There has been a sharp drop in player population in the last month.

ALFA has never been the only thing in the world and there has always been alot of players who are just as happy to play other games or do other things than log into ALFA every day.

These things happen.

Do remember that last month Guild Wars 2 came out, and this month both Borderlands 2 and World of Warcraft's latest expansion have hit. Couple in with school for some folk and we get an understanding that, hey, people do things other than play ALFA. Swift's got the right idea, so can you!

Sure, other games and RL happen, but so do other things. If you think people don't stop playing ALFA because of stupid shit the admins and players do, you're ignoring the stumps in the forest :D

I never said people don't stop playing for those reasons, I just prefer not to immediately jump to those reasons whenever I think the player base is shrinking because unlike some here, I actually trust the Admins to steer this ship on the course that seems the best.

I haven't noticed much stupid stuff lately, I have noticed September is a huge change at least around my household, workplace, etc.

Those who dabble in other games, are also subject to vanishing for good new stuff :)

It's sadly compounded by the fact that even if several people do log in at the same time, odds are there will not be many on the same server. And if you do log in to incite others to join you, odds are the ones available won't be on your server. And yes, I'm currently working on adding one more.

I have seen and heard directly from players who have left have said some of the stuff the admins here have done made them leave.

So I'm not talking out my ass. That is fact.

Why not share the feedback then with Admin, PMs can cc. to all of them by name? It may be constructive, never know.
