Torches

Well do torches hurt trolls? And if not could we implement it to where torches do 1point of damage to things that burn?

I do not believe torches are useable on anything, damage-wise; however, I am also under the impression that trolls and their ilk do not require acid or fire to kill sans DM events. I can be completely incorrect on that statement, but it is what I have seen in the past.

Torches also don't work consistently regarding the light effect. The torchhand vfx is broken so that it fires or not according to dunno what. Perhaps tech could could do a new base item that is a torch as a weapon, giving the correct physical damage and can be used regardless of proficiencies. On top in the toolset one can then put fire damage, fire vfx, light and -4 to-hit. The downside is that the flicker effect will be lost. Now you can sort of fake it with a mace or light hammer, but it needs profs to use. (Using the club doesn't work, since the model is one piece. You need model piece 1 as the head only since the fire vfx lights that piece up.)

I've always needed fire or acid to kill trolls, never seen an instance of them staying down otherwise.

I know for certain TSM trolls will happily stand right back up after a few seconds of being at 0 HP if you don't hit them with fire or acid.

If you meet any trolls that don't require fire, acid, or a coup de grace to kill, please open a ticket about that. We have the scripts, and if they're not being implemented, that's usually a sign that a server needs a hand.

To the torches, they don't work for that, but it would be possible. There are rules for beating people with a lit torch out there somewhere, and we do have broader plans to tackle issues with proficiencies (provided we can get them through standards), so adding torches to the pile wouldn't be a crushing workload.

slight expansion of the topic,

can we add lutes as a usable weapon as well? (with penalties obviously).

It is my greatest wish to one day be in a barfight when i can club someone with my lute. In game offcourse.

this. I know there are bad scripts floating around for these creatures, so builders think they are adding working trolls when they are in fact not.

The above reminds me that Wolf needs to name the lute.

Possibly "El Kabong"

The practical application of a splash of acid or fire is to cauterize their self-regenerating wounds. That works the same for flaming and acid dmg weapons (though i'm not sure how projectiles manage to accomplish this.) Bashing something with a small lantern or a one shot torch just lacks the coverage needed.

Lutes get into improvised weapons, and are a very large can of worms; I wouldn't hold my breath.
