I'm not sure how many members still around remember Sir Bel - he was a member from way back, big player on Daggerdale and later a Daggerdale DM. He was not only the one of the key people who attracted me to ALFA in the first place, but also the first person to DM me and a year or so later took time to show me how to use the DM client and help ease me into the flow of the DM life. He hasn't popped in since 2010, so may have faded from many people's memories, but even then he was always a friendly, helpful type.

Anyway, long story short, it turns out that Sir Bel lost his fight against cancer a couple of weeks ago.

I've posted below is obituary, for those of you who are interested.
Brian Leonard Ware, Esq.

Of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Harrisburg, PA and Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2012, at Cancer Treatment Center of America's Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He was 43 years old, born on May 25, 1969 in Media, PA.

He is survived by his parents, John E. Ware and Katherine A. Ware of Newark, DE; three sisters, Michelle Z. Aldorasi, Lauren E. Ware, and Julianne R. Ware; and nephew Daniel and niece Sophia.

Brian graduated from the University of Delaware in 1992 and was an active member of Delta Tau Delta. He later attended Widener University School of Law. After graduating from Widener in 2002, he went on to serve as a licensed attorney specializing in banking laws and regulations and was admitted as an attorney of the Pennsylvania Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court. Brian served in executive positions for a number of banks and was Manager of Compliance for Accume Partners at the time of his death.

An avid traveler and photographer, Brian took striking photographs of his visits to Russia, Italy, Scotland, and many other countries. He also traveled through thirty states and rated Yellowstone National Park as his favorite destination. Brian was a great supporter of Philadelphia sports teams and had season tickets to the Phillies. He also enjoyed reading and going on walks with his dog, Liberty, in Rockford Park.

As Brian battled cancer, he kept his many friends and family members updated and greatly valued the support and love he received in return.

A service to celebrate Brian's life will be held on Monday, July 23, at 1 pm at the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington at 730 Halstead Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in honor of Brian L. Ware to Cancer Treatment Center of America's Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia or to the creation of CancerBWare.org at PO Box 2628 Wilmington, DE 19805.

So sad, I'll remember him in my prayers.
He was part of the welcome wagon for me on Daggerdale when Glorfindel rolled on to the server a few months after ALFA went Live.

Didn't know (or possibly dont recall) the fellow.

It is incredibly sad though, when parents outlive their children.

It could be anyone of us. Live healthy eh? It may not save you, but it gives you the best chance of a long life.

Siege of White Chalk Hollow

As sun descended from the sky,
‘Hind White Chalk Hollow’s walls
Some hardy warriors heard the cries
Of rumbling, beastial calls

Tesh Valley opened up her maw -
Spewed forth a heathen horde.
Yet hardy warriors steel did draw
And defiantly roar:

(Chorus)
To arms! To arms! Here they come!
They’re bold and think they’re tough.
Stand your ground! Our shouts resound . . .
We’re made of stouter stuff!

The councilor hin, Rem, did begin
To mount the town’s defense.
The hardy warriors grimly braced
As battle did commence.

Wave after wave the walls repelled.
En mass orcs met their fate,
Whilst dwarves Hignar, Segnar, Dralin,
And Olga held the gate.

(Chorus)

“A giant, lo, among the foe!”
One hardy warrior cried.
Methos, enraged, did fell the beast
But in so doing, died.

The battle done, the town had won!
With virtue’s threat now gone,
Upon the walls the warriors called
Out to the breaking dawn:

(Chorus)

Oh, cast around - pound for pound . . .
We’re made of stouter stuff!

All together now!
We’ll win each round because we’ve found . . .
We’re made of stouter stuff!

One last time!
Ask around – we’re glory bound . . .
We’re made of stouter stuff!

Rest In Peace fellow RPer.

We'll miss you like we miss White Warlock and other ALFAns that may have passed away and we don't know about.

daggerdale back in the days.....
I remember how a Daggerdale DM (Esio I think) drag my fragile little level 1 dwarf over to Sir Bel saying:

- this is a grumpy lass, a female, they suppose to be like this, infact shes in her most joyfull temper atm and yes, they do have beards... call her dwarf and she be just as happy.

at that Sir Bel bowed gracefully - I stand corrected my lady dwarf

and thats how I allways remembered him, honest and direct, polite yet strict but with a devil in his eye, you will be missed stranger of my real life
