If you are not logged into chat 24hrs a day like some of the DMs and admin - please for the love of God stop leaving us IMs and then logging off.

We have PMs please use them! Invariably I write you a response to your irc IM only to discover you are offline.

Castano, I am guilty!

but, in my defense... you also are online, in the roster as "Castano" ... not "Castano|AFK", or "Castano|sleeping", etc. Everytime I "do that".

I am sorry if it pisses you off, I will for the remaining of my existence, first send a message like this:

"Hello! Are you there?" ....if no response arrives within a resonable time, i'll not send anymore.

God luv ya!

/whois <name> or /whois <name> <name> (the latter in the event you are not connected to the same actual server) will show you how long the person in chat has been idle for. Even if they have not got an afk tag on their name, their idle time is a good pointer to whether they are around or not.

Coming back to a bunch of "Are you there" messages without an indication as to what was wanted is not so useful either FYI.

yeeeeeeeeeeeea.... my goodness...
...well, maybe y'all could lighten up a bit? just a game.

:)

Just spitballin' here, call me crazy but.... If the suggestion that I should type in "/whois <name>" to see how long someone is idle, and then "decide" if that person "has been idle long enough to not send him/her a message because he or she might be annoyed" (???)....
WHAT is the big problem when you GO AFK changing your nick to "<name>|afk"? Seems like a much easier process that saves everyone any minor issues.

hmm... anyway!

game on

Sorry if that was a bit clipped, posted it from phone where long prose is painful. :)

(Coming back to a bunch of "are you there?" messages happens to be one of my pet peeves.)

Or instead of asking "are you there" send them your exact question in a single sentence and wait for a reply, then leave a message if you have to leave before you get a reply.

Works pretty well in my experience.

Nothing, but people sometimes forget.

Or sometimes go afk with the intent to return quickly which ends up not happening.

Or have to suddenly get up and leave without notice.

Or any other number of reasons.

LOL all i'm trying to say is if it's urgent send me a PM if you're going to log/disconnect. If you just want to talk that's fine. Carry on people...
