Welp I nominate myself to help out in Kmj's place untill June. I've never disappeared without notice, gone crazy, have always put other players first as a DM, and always tried to use my limited skills to make Alfa a more friendly and attractive place to our very special type of hobbist.

My guiding philosophy is to follow the rules to the letter of the law, do no harm, and finally create an environment where the creative commons can fuction despite the fact it is populated by dramatic and eccentric geniuses.

Though I doubt I could make any whacked-out changes to Alfa in just a few months, I can easily keep things stable and safe till the next offical election happens.

However I can make sure that the focus stays on making our effort be spent on making the game enjoyable and focused on creating regular roleplaying events and cultivating DMs that can be depended on to provide that content in whatever way their talents are best expressed.

Alright, I have been persuaded to give this a wirl.

I self-nominate for the position of Lead Administrator.

I will try to keep this somewhat brief, as you can always ask for elaborately verbose detail in the Q&A thread ;).

Who am I?

I joined sometime early 2003, and have since then been a player, DM'ed on NWN 1 Neverwinter , built for NWN 1 Baldur's Gate and NWN 1 Northern Cormyr. I have served in various staff positions, most notably in standards, but also as DM liaison, moderation head and others.
Some things I have done that I consider milestones are the making accessible, known and viewable to everyone of our standards; abolishing anonymous moderation working as staff for IA zicada - leading to our most flame-free / boring board era, like, ever; and pooling money with Hialmar to supply server machines for ALFA 1 servers.

What do I want to do?

LA is pretty limited in the active agenda, but I have two things in mind that I would like to pursue.

a) Documentation

Something kmj started - trying to consolidate all our documentation into one resource. I consider this an important task, trying to peel away the layers upon layers of individual decisions, rules and guides we made. I believe I am rather uniquely qualified to oversee this, because I have been around a fair while and usually had intimate knowledge of what was going on.

I am however fully convinced that this is a mammoth task indeed, and I have no illusions about finishing it quickly, even though, in case I should get elected, I have capable staff in the wings (see further below). Given ALFA's complexity and history, the proportions of the workload are understandably massive.

b) Public Relations

The LA's only real toy, I would not only try to build upon our cooperation with other projects and PWs, but have also talked with some of our builders and HDMs about sharing ALFA resources to attract more attention and talent. Hopefully, we can play a part in the wider NWN 2 community and thus attract fresh talent and new blood to swell our numbers.

My hope is that we can gain a presence on the vault and the community boards and share some resources for mutual benefit, I have already received some great ideas from the people I talked to, and would try to go from there.

c) Annex Poland

Self-explanatory.

Why me?

While I am fully comfortable where I am currently, I do believe that I am uniquely qualified to try to get our documentation into shape. I have been around in this community for a long time and choose it due to its values and focus, and established a good working relationship with most people of this community, even if we disagreed on issues on the always unpopular work of standards, for instance. I am familiar with most of our factions and groups of membership and believe I could give due and fair representation to all, and be a steady helmsman. I know how our politics, rules and community work and figure I could keep us chugging along smoothly, even though mostly as a figurehead, since we are talking about LA here ;).

Relationship with other Admin

DMA Curmudgeon - I have a very cordial and productive relationship with him, we disagree respectfully and in a friendly fashion.

TA AcadiusLost - I admire and respect his work greatly; our exchanges were professional and productive, to I cannot claim to have established any personal rapport with him.

PA Vendrin - While I would not count on his vote ;), we seem to have established a respectful working relationship.

IA Hialmar - I call Hialmar a friend and find it great to work with him, we're on a first name basis, and I'm proud to know that we trust each other as far as money :).

Staff

First, the loose ends I had to tie up:

With blessings from Curmudgeon, hollyfant has volunteered to succeed me as Staff Head of Standards & Training should I be elected. I am very glad for his support in this fashion, he is a capable and level-headed guy.

And with agreement from Hialmar, paazin would become Staff Head of Moderation in case of an electoral victory. He has an even temper and I trust him fully to keep the boards as flame-free and civil as they are now.

Now, for my own staff in case I should get elected:

NESChampion, KMJ's only staffer, has graciously acquiesced to staying on should I win. Thanks!

BlindHamsterman has also agreed to work with me as a Staff Head, I think he will prove once again what a valuable member he has become.

SwordSaintMusashi could no longer dodge the bullet and has grudgingly accepted doing some actual work around here for me. I'm sure he will continue to provide his opinion that usually disagrees with mine ;)

I have no exact denominations for the staff position each one is going to fill yet, but I fully intend to run the Lead Administration in the "cabinet style" that HEEGZ introduced - it simply gets more work done.

I any case, thank you all for your consideration. If you have further questions, I am usually available in chat and via PM, and of course in the Q&A thread!

Cheers,

EDIT: Nomination has been withdrawn.

Lord help me... Consider this hugely small post to be me self nominating, This time round I'm a member in good standing, so perhaps those that had been considering me before I was dissallowed for PA might consider me for LA instead...

I should note, I wasn't initially going to self nominate for this, however It's been getting mulled over for a few hours now, and I think I might be up to the task.

I'd bore people with huge explanation for this or some humour, but I'm confident you don't really want that, I'll make a Q&A thread on the subject tomorrow (2am here).

For now I shall close with a song that sums my view up
Chorus
im going to paint a perfect picture,
a world of makebelieve,
no more hunger, war or suffering,
the world id like to see

Verse 1

the blackbird sings in the hedgerow
the white owl sleeps in the barn
the brown geese fly, a group in the sky
the yellow chick pecks the corn

chorus

verse 2

the stream runs clear through the meadow
the wheat ears swell with the grain,
the oak trees give them shelter and shade
the sunlight bursts through the rain

Chorus

Verse 3

the farmers gather the harvest
the children play by the mill
the cattle chew and flick up their tails
the ponies graze on the hill

Chorus
for those that care, I actually once sang this solo for a reasonably large audience.

Thanks for the support, congratulations, and of course your votes. I will try to do the best with the given means.

I am thrilled at the prospect of the short term, which means you can give me a timely referendum on whether you approve or disapprove on the measures taken until then.

Special thanks to my staffers who will be at your service now: Blindhamsterman (analytics), NESChampion (documentation) and SwordSaintMusashi (public relations).

I am encouraged by the clean and fair election, and that both my opponents have pledged their support. I am sure Cloud will be watching closely, and providing fresh and helpful input / opposition :).

If there is anything you think we can do for you / to improve the project, do not hesitate to ask.

Cheers,
