Basically it's the sparsest timezone in ALFA player/DM wise so thinking how we culd get more interest/recruitment.
I've been a member since 2004, know ALFA pretty well, and I really think a server and DM team based in Aus/NZ is a genuine need unfilled within this community. Plenty of Aussie players have left due to no DM love.
Nothing may come of it, but with support, I'm sure it could be done.
I agree it's a special case given the much smaller player base and need to concentrate.
So how do we do that?
Adopt a server on a 6/12 monthly basis?
Have some fliers and specific thread on the boards and website for Australian/NZ/pacific/SE asian and euro/US shift worker players pointing to the adopted server and discussing the recent 'oceania' adventures?
Update the website back mechanics to make someone goodgling 'nwn2 australia' have ALFA show up at number 1 on the search list?
Use the above two to support 'recruitment' through the websites you've identified?
Suspend the cant DM and play on the same server rule...just for for us
something like getting a feature on Ausgamers might work. Hosting a server in australia might be prohibitively costly given the shambles our internet service is here. but work a look. I did post on the public relations site some D&D based web comics we might get links to.
It wasn't such a problem in nwn1, cause there were many and varied spawns which kept a grop of players busy with no Dm around. It's not the same on the current servers. What we need is flora and fauna.. bugs, critters, things that make the server dangerous and provide a little fun without being plot things

I guess i didn;t mean 'host' a server. What i meant was.
a) Hialmar to put a flag on the website for players in the above areas.
b) That flag lead to a landing page for Oz/NZ players/DMs writen by 'us' and set up by Hialmar that is accessible to non-members and includes:
- Which server is the Oz/NZ 'home'
- any standard session times and a shedule about whos areound when (some coloured spreadsheet type thing)
- a timeline for upcoming 'events' (maybe we could try and do a few player led ones once we're onthe same server?)
- a nifty time converter thing
- what a generic long term storyline might be (obviously VERY loose given changing DMs etc)
- what the current 'group' consists (including alignment type stuff to encourage inclusion)
- what potential DMs are able to do and work with (eg can run focussed campaigns with a limited group PnP style, can just jump in and out and play on another server, etc)
- who to contact to talk about joining
- link to a page for members for IC and organisational stuff (like the oceana group thread now)
c) A HDM contacted and asked if we could use their server as a 'home' for the next 6 months. Then have Hialmar (or Curm?) add "Oz/NZ Home server" onto the title on the forum and hopefully in GameSpy?
d) Nag the head of PR to get the posts up on those sites you've mentioned with direct links to the Oz/NZ landing page. Or do it ourselves. And do it every few months perhaps.
e) Agree with DMs and players that we will endevour to 'pause' campaigns to IC introduce, assist and encourage new players that do join. Considering the greater good rather than the
f) Nag all the ex-players/Dms to come back once it's all sorted out. Rumple C, borgia, etc
etc

After some discussion I'll be bumming around Moonshaes in my DM skirt thu/fri evenings for pacific playaz!! I'll be on some weeks thu (usually earlier), some weeks fri (usually later), some weeks both until we get a natural rythym going. (and the people I need to bend to my will eventually submit)
On indefinite real life hiatus
[22:52] <Veilan> obviously something sinister must be afoot if a DM does not have his social security number in his avatar name!
Sounds tempting, Thang. I'm away for the next 2-5 weeks, and will spend that time in careful negotiation trying to get another evening off for this silly roleplaying thing.
