AC's and AT's

Post by Rion of Erb »

Question/Issue:
Every once and a while when I transition to a new area from the overland map with my animal companion summoned, she disappears after a moment but her party image remains..... and when I right click on her I get a generic command pop up for a random player on the server.

Any ideas? The simple solution is to unsummon when transitioning, but just wondering if this is a known issue or something weird with my toon?

EDIT: the real problem with this issue is that you re unable to unsummon your AC when this happens and are forced to rest and resummon to get your AC back.

Yup, I encountered that problem quite often. The work-around is not to transition with a the companion Summonned and do not re-summon the companion close to a transition.

That work-around has a glitch if your AC is harmed. The lovely un/re -summon trick heals him right up. Or at least so I would recall. Also if you have intra-area transitions, the ACs will be left behind, and the un/re -summon trick again falsely gives the AC a heal. :? At least the DM can give the AC ports if you're riding with one.

A DM handling a big party, otoh, can't really spare the cycles to do that.
If there's a big group, I just warn the DMs and ask if it's okay -- and have the compassion to actually heal my own ACs. :D

Just don't summon your pet UNTIL you need it. Unsummoning it will sometimes even reset the timer. Ask for a rest if you get into trouble and your timer is broken.

Note: It has been attempted to fix this but while animals were fine, people could not AT. So back to the drawing board.
