A Land Far Away

Hi Folks,

I've sent PMs and emails to Aelred in the hopes that he'll check them sooner or later, but in my impatience I thought I'd post here to see if anyone may have my answer.

I took quite a long ALFA hiatus, after my computer melted down and took Myth Drannor with it as far as I knew. Now I seem to have gotten ahold of files from the ftp that look like its my old .mod, and some of Aelreds work on Essembra.

The problem is that they are password protected, in all likelihood this was a password of Aelred's and no one knows it, but if anyone was involved in the build or ever checked out these files and knows the password, I would really appreciate it.

I'd really like to have a look at my old work, I know there's stuff there worth salvaging, we may not even need another server being built, but I'd very much like to tool around with it if at all possible. Thanks for any help you could offer.

I can't remember the password though I am almost positive it was a word in elvish.

aegis, I think the password may have been aegis which means protection in elvish. But if that doesn't work try some easy elvish words like telquessir, cormanthyr, arcorar.

Regardless getting into those files won't do you much good. When trying to open really old stuff like that the toolset would go haywire and my computer would crash. I especially remember a weird bug problem with Legionnaire's work on the Watchful Eye Inn. But I may have deleted the copy from the FTP when I rebuilt that. What i had done on Essembra was pretty but not really meaningful in a post last Mythal Trilogy world where basically everything outside the walls of the town would have been destroyed. Would the people of Battledale bother to rebuild and reestablish Essembra when Myth Drannor is now being rebuilt and people from all over the Realms are coming to forge a place for themselves in the new city.

I do have everything, even your old original MD copy saved on my 2nd computer but it is currently not turning on...either a prob with the power supply or god forbid the Mobo.

Halrin/Audark, I have to admit that your coming back has spurred a bit of that building itch in me.

ALFA most likely does not need another server build right now, but there is lots of help needed for castanos moonshaes, and I'm not sure about western heartlands or TFN.

I'm going to be approaching the Myth Drannor build as an art project, that may turn into more, take it slow, no stress, focus on the city itself and the surrounds. The idea turning in my mind right now is maybe getting it to a point where the admin can look at it and approve something bare bones to use as a brief campaign, ALFA players helping to retake the city with the elven crusade.

After that, if we're still building, and there's still interest, maybe we can consider more, but for now I think my sights are elsewhere, helping ALFAs other builds succeed, with Myth Drannor being something I will go to to recharge my batteries, as I do love it.
