Stepping down as Head Moderator

Post by Veilan »

Hello folks,

let me start by saying that I'm entirely proud of my tenure. We slowly, but very smoothly, made the transition from anonymous moderation to a public team again. I oversaw one of the most drama-free episodes of ALFA, allowing me to put in place a team of calm professionals, that act responsible and accountable. I'm looking forward to working with them as a regular team member from this point on.

However, everything I could do is done - a system in place, the transition made, and there is nothing wrong with the board climate that I could stay on to help improve. Thus, I could not refuse the arguments of an old friend who says he needs me more :).

I'm very confident about leaving the reigns of Head Moderator in the hands of kmj2587. Despite being a moderator only for a short time, I think I'm not the only one convinced of his calm demeanour and maturity to continue as warden of our boards. Please give him a warm welcome.

Thanks everyone,
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

However....your avatar is not. Furries are not ALFA supported....Kyle, I demand this one be banned! LET THE REAL MODERATION BEGIN!!! *swiftly draws Stormtrooper helmet back out of the door, slams it shut*

To be quite fair, the kudos here should go to every member who has been using the forums over the last 6 months. Because everybody has been nice, Veilan has not really had any work to do at all, other than reinstating public mods and getting rid of all the silly rules that only made things 10 times worse. Remove the kindergarten, and people stop being children.

So thanks are due all around honestly.

Indeed, once we established the framework and gave them the proper feeling about moderation, people behaved well. I actually only had to deal out three strikes - one of which went to zicada no less - and none of those managed to escalate into any drama :).

Thanks much Velian!
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Hello all. It's good to be taking over now that Veilan has done all the real work, for which I heartily thank him. Since I've been greeted repeatedly on our NwN2 servers with a "hey, are you new? Welcome to ALFA!" by some of our newer members, I thought I'd take a moment here to introduce myself. I've been an active member in ALFA since January 2006, just not very active on the forums. I've been an ALFA rep., and a member and head of the old Constitional Committee in the past. My hope as head mod is just to keep things going smoothly. I may not post, but I check the boards fairly often, so if any of you have any questions about moderation, feel free to send me a PM and I'll be glad to answer you.
