A Land Far Away

I understand the reluctance to appear over-eager in seeking donations, but I think it would help us to get more in if donation links could be more easily found in the forums.

Granted, I'm a fairly inept forum surfer, but each time I try to find the donation link I spend inordinate amounts of time trying to find it. I'm sure a link will momentarily be posted shortly after I post this, and I will once again wonder why it was so difficult for me to find , but I can't help but think that I'm not the only forum user that is somewhat less than adept.

I would think that donations are critical to keeping our community healthy and growing, so I would think it would be helpful to have links clearly visible and accessible so that it can easily be done when anyone (including dim wits such as myself) can do it without excessive effort.

I apologize for posting here, rather than in the suggestion thread, but I couldn't find that either...I know...I know...I'm hopeless

Bottom left on the website front page; seems pretty clear to me (though it doesn't jump out quite as much with the current color scheme as in the old or proposed new ones.

Are you going straight to the forums via bookmark rather than going to the frontpage of the web site first? Our ability to make important announcements and such is much better via the front page then as new posts in one of the hundreds of subforums here.

Yep...I use a bookmark link to forums. I don't keep a link to the "front page". I'm sure I can find it and save it, but my point is that I imagine many players are as lazy as I am and jump straight to forums, check new posts or favorite forum, and log back out directly from the forum.

It's just a suggestion, but I imagine we'd get more donations if there was a link in the forums.

Same for me....I rarely see the front page...... I link to "A Land Far Away * Index Page"

There is a huge linke to teh front page that's visible anywhere in the forums though. And given that finding stuff in the sea of forums and subforums that we have has always been a chronicle problem, I doubt it would make much difference. Also, the fact that we have such a thread kinda proves it. Maybe the wording of the subject could be improved, but whatever.

K...thanks for the link. Followed it, scrolled down, found Hialmar's link, used it. As far as the link to front page, it is likley just too big and obvious for me to see .

Anyway...it was just a suggestion...signing off thread now.

You're right. I think only the black theme I'm using has it. On the rest of the themes it just repeats the link to the forums.

When I'm done with the initial work on the redesign, the forums will most likely be put inside the rest of the website, and the donation-button will be moved so its easier to spot.

For what it's worth, the Front Page of the website is a lot more useful lately than it used to be, so might be worth considering making that the bookmark, rather than the forum index page. The forums are always going to be hard to find well-organized information inside.
