Admissions Survey

Post by Rotku »

I'm trying to gather some information to help me plan some things out for the Admissions department.

Please tick two of the above boxes, one NWN1 option and one NWN2 option.

It's worth noting here that "would play in a campaign if offered" is a bit complicated as I see it, as it would seem to presume consistent time compatibility with a DM and campaign group at the minimum, and for many of us, also that the campaign makes sense from an in-character point of view, for one's existing PC(s). This may run into problems based on location/setting of the campaign, goals, and who else is involved when there are characters with negative experience with each other. The longer a PC has been around, in many cases, the harder it is to "fit" them neatly into a campaign, unless the player is willing to be quite flexible with their concept.

I would guess that most of our membership would like to participate in campaigns given all of the above, it's more the challenge of how to overcome the aforementioned hurdles. I'd also expect a good slice of our membership would prefer active adhoc play with consistent RP interaction and "campaigns" growing out of unscheduled events to prearranged, session-only playing, but I could be wrong about that.

I had to choose...I do not play in a NWN2 campaign and would not if offered, because I can't do it...

NWN1, I have been running a single campaign that has 2 separate groups on separate days...total players is over 10...

If I had the time & money ... I would run a campaign every night for both NWN1 & NWN2...

But the reality is that I am losing the free time I had so I may have to choose ... "can't do shite" in the near future.

AL, I'd like to see a poll on that. I think the desire to be in a campaign has grown since the population density of the servers has dropped...and we have a good many active NWN (1&2) non members who play almost exclusively in campaigns via use of NWConnections.

Polls on the 200+ current ALFA forum members does not give us the same data as a poll for all like minded players in the NWN Community at large. If the purpose is growth, then we need to poll the "swing voters" not the hard core PGers or hard core ALFAns.

Nalo's speculative poll...

If you gave the following poll to ALFA members 3-5 years ago ....

I would prefer to be in a once a week campaign. 5-10%

I would prefer to play ad-hoc. 90-95%

If you gave the following poll to ALFA members today...

Campaign 40-60%

Ad-hoc 60-40%

If you gave the poll to all RP, D&D/PnP NWN players/DMs ...

Campaign 60-80%

Ad-hoc 40%-20%

Anyway ... good luck with your research.

Where's my "I DM a NWN2 Campaign?" Can DMs choose a playing option?
Enjoy the game

DMing is fun, and thus dubbable as "playing."
