A Land Far Away

I'm not sure if any of you have been following but the PR department has been busy making preparations for the upcoming NWNCon4, in late September. It's a general on-line convention where people can get together, discuss issues in building, DMing, playing, scripting - all sorts of matters that are relevant in the NWN-centric universe, and therefore ALFA's universe. More information is available here

It's a great time for us to get our name out, to explain who we are and what we do and our views on what a Persistent World should be. Of course, that's only one thing; we intend prepare something for the Open DMing, perhaps by hosting a copy of our OAS or live servers, having back-to-back DM sessions at peak hours.

This is an opportunity we cannot miss - I'd value any input or ideas that anyone has which could be of use to us in this project. If anyone is offering to help out, show people around, offer assistance those few days by taking up the DM wand, please tell me or post below.

I'm interested in running an event on the OAS2. Some DM-ing love. Whatever we can do to show off ALFA, we could tie into this.

One thing I need to add: if you can or are willing to step up we need specific days and times you can be around. I have to let NWC know so they can add our members into their schedules of events, chats, or DM sessions. Also, All folks who get involved running something must also sign up over at NWC. Its their rules. Its free so not a big issue.

Look forward to seeing who steps up. We have had folks in other threads say they will help. We just need those folks to give concreate day and times.

The days of the event are Fri, Sat, Sun ... September 26th, 27th and 28th.

Lusipher really needs you to commit to a time / date, he has already stated that he is not going to pick a date for you, even if you give him a list of available times...

I am guessing the more "coverage time" we can get the better, so I would reccomend we coordinate with each other as to when we will be on...

For DMing sessions on the OAS 1&2, it would be nice to have coverage all three nights at "prime time" 5pm - 10pm (EST GMT-5)

is there anyone that is willing to DM the OAS 1&2 on any or all of these three nights?


We will also need some "reps" available for IRC chat to be available to chat about ALFA.

Q for Lusipher, have you set up the ALFA "server" account or an account for the OAS 1 or OAS 2. It would be good to schedule our appearance in their calender with these accounts, last I heard you had the address needed to create the accounts...

It will also make us look more "full" the more members we can get that will sign up and join these "accounts".

Individual Dms make up their own accounts there. They post when they are going to dm on the server they are from. One ALFA account over there wont work well because of the way NWC is set up. One person isnt going to go back and change things everytime we need to update something. Thats why Id rather have individuals setting up their own accounts there as Dms.

Okay so we don't have any accounts set up to show our "scheduled" OAS event games for the convention ?

We only have ONE shot at this convention... It makes NO sense what-so-ever for us to not have an account so that we can post games on the calender and have their players sign up for those games.... editend]

One ALFA account is not needed to handle all of the Dm times. Thats up to our DMs themselves. Its been told to you pretty crystal by now.

Now, please, leave the thread so others can discuss the Con. This isnt going to turn into us going back and forth on something we disagree on. PR has it covered thank you for your offer, but no.

I will volunteer to be in chat on Saturday Sept 27th from 10am until 1pm PST (GMT-8 ).

Friday evening after 5:30 PM till 9-10 PM PST

Clear to dm all three days of the Convention, 4 hours per day, split into 2 hour sessions, and will allow for overage. Thinking from 10:00-12:00 est AM and 2:00-4:00 est pm on all three days. Thanks.

give me something to do.. I am in the worst possible timezone for it (GMT+12) I;d imagine but let me know if you need some DMing, IRC chatting or whatever assistance.. I offered before and if you need a fill in guy (stunt double), someone to do some legwork.. whatever.. I'm here.

I'm not sure I'm off that weekend (26th, 27th, 28th), I'll have to check but I'm finished my mountaineering and alpine rescue courses by that stage so I'll have some time on my hands.

Would love to have you join us, Thangs. Your welcome to do whatever you want, but you have to set the time and dates for us. I will just let NWC know in one lump sum when we get a good number of confirmations. I just gotta know for sure what folks are gonna do.

I will gladly assist in DMage, though I don't feel confident DMing solo.

I'd rather provide something special on the OAS2, build-in through NPC's and such. Call it DMing by proxy. It'll be very specific. I'll look into the possibilities... We'll need to have a new PA before I could start arranging this, since the OAS2 will be her/his territory.
