Is there a way to return the camera in NWN2 to what it used to be before the haks were updated and the height was raised?

And now I am torn between hate and love of the new camera.

This change was WhiteWarlock's suggestion - I don't know the specifics but he'd be able to answer your questions further.

IIRC, it's one of the camera 2da files.

is there a particular race or races that it is not working with? And yes, it can be adjusted, but doing so requires a change to a 2da within the hak. If you wish, i will make an adjusted hak and provide it for you. But, indicating which race/races will help me to ensure i modify the original 2da so that the next update includes the modification.

It is a subtle change Helios. bring your camera forward all the way. If you have the recent update, the head of the pc should be barely visible at the bottom of the screen, rather than the pc's upper torso and head taking up the screen.

... just go to the option menu and find, under Strategy Mode, the old Top-Down Camera button. It resets it to how the old NWN1/NWN2 camera was. :\

For those who don't like the new camera height or want to compare the two, using a slightly older version of the alfa_gui.hak should revert it to the prior arrangement. For dual-members with Exodus, the version on their FTPs is pre-camera height change. Alternatively, you could download and use the version here:

Ideally, I'd like to find a middle ground that most members are happy with, so we can all get on the same haks. Specific feedback (too high, not high enough) by race of PC may help tweak things towards more general satisfaction.

Information from the left field; I was worried that moving the camera up would make viewing your toon on a scaled down travel area unworkable, but it doesn't. So I'm happy either way.

I don't like the new camera height for humans because the angle is now worse for screenshots and frapsing.

Hi vendrin, if it is in regards to screenshots, i'm a little confused. Because of the change implemented with the camera, using character view (should never be taking pics with strategy mode anyway, because of the character highlighting), you are now able to drop the camera to the angle of an ant. You are also able to get far more 'sky' in your pics, and when taking a pic from behind, to get a good click of what is ahead of your pc, your character isn't blocking the shot. Here are some examples of screenshots i did:

I don't know where this came from, honest!

You have far more flexibility with your pic taking than before. It's just a matter of getting used to the different angles. Also, if you're aiming for view shots (sans the character in the frame), you should use the floating camera setting.

That's ok.

They dont go into such advanced stuff in the 'special' class so you can't be expected to know.
