Will you support moving standards to the Lead portfolio?

Will you support giving votes to all ALFA members for the Lead Admin position?

- Mordekai asks if Magile likes pie or cake more.

- If the answer is cake, then Mordekai asks what kind of cake.

- If the answer is chokolate cake then Mordekai asks if Magile likes strawberries on his chokolate cake.

This is a tricky situation in my eyes. Standards is a rather large base, when you think about it -- it affects servers, players and DMs, and by affecting those bases, the community as a whole. To be honest, I'm not entirely sold on the idea as it being solely in one portfolio; however, I am aware that it cannot be spread amongst the PA, Lead and DMA. As if right now, I am not certain if the Lead Admin should have the portfolio, but I am sure with enough reasoning, I could be swayed. They are, after all, supposed to be about the community as a whole.

In other words, I cannot say I would give my support as of this current moment, but the potential is certainly there.

If the voting system cannot be compromised, I am all for it. The Lead Admin, as I stated above, is [in my eyes] all about the community as a whole, the project, etc. It seems silly to only have a select few able to vote as to who represents the entire group. Some say it lacks power, but I still see Lead as a prominent figurehead. The only thing that makes me wary of the idea is the thought of ex-ALFAns making accounts to vote, or multiple accounts being made. There must be a very secure means of doing this that cannot be tampered with.

It definitely depends on the type. Blueberry and lemon meringue pie are amazing and most certainly trump almost every cake in my eyes; however, there are times when you just want to dig into a nice black forest cake. For the most part though, I like pie.

edit: Black Forest Cake is like a chocolate cake, and it has cherries on it. It's very, very good.

Are you, or have you ever been, a jagoff?

If you do become DMA, does that mean you will actually be DMing on a NWN2 server?

Helios asks if magile likes to refer to himself in the third person, if yes, is this a sign of deep narcissism?

What if the cake that mordekai speaks of is a lie? How then will you appease our friendly violent A.I. construct overlords?

One day, when I understand exactly what that means, I'll tell you.

You are correct, sir.

I don't like to refer to myself at all in third person, to be quite honest. I was tired when I wrote out the list of "bads" and merely did it in an odd manner to differentiate from the actualy semi-platform.

I've played Portal enough to know how to handle the situation.

I'll be asking this of each candidate:

Seeing that there is currently only 1 NWN2 server in ALFA and a major need for DMs with time to actually DM on that server, would you be willing to push for a temporary change in the rules and allow TSM DMs to also play on TSM, only until a 2nd NWN2 went Live?

A number of people have quietly mentioned they'd be willing to DM but not if it meant not being able to play a character at all in NWN2. Under any circumstances, are you open to the idea and if not, what plans to do have to attract DMs until more NWN2 servers go online.

Thanks.

Kate

I'm actually one of those people, although it was not a quiet mention when I spoke about it in #alfa. I am not against the idea by any means, and I am for trying it out. There has been a severe lack of trust in ALFA lately, and if we cannot trust those that run the server, well... that's rather hypocritical, don't you think? Playing on a server when you don't trust those on it? Anyway, I think even this were made into a rule, not many would jump to the occasion. Many ALFAns remain careful about meta-gaming, and knowing the ins and outs of a server and also playing on them can be rather dissuading/ruin the immersion (I know Acadius Lost has mentioned not playing merely because he knows most of TSM due to helping with, well, everything on it).

As for attracting more DMs, I cannot think of anything that could actually attract more outside of recruitment in general. That, however, is out of my hands (as far as I am aware) and in the hands of Lead. Not saying I cannot do my part in trying, but there have been campaigns to acquire more DMs given the current rules and those have fallen through. The idea of granting DMs the ability to play on the sole NWN2 server until more are readily available may solve that problem, but once again, I still feel that there may still be a lack of volunteers. Another idea, which went rather unwell (from what I remember) in the NWN1 era, is to allow some DMs from other servers to "roam" onto the current Live server and try their hand at DMing there. That would be very dependent on the HDM/DM crew of that server, but it is an idea if people are truly feeling unloved on the DM-front.
