ALFA Evolved.

Post by Nalo Jade »

The NEW ALFA !!

Sweeping reforms have been made to our ambitious project. If you have looked at ALFA before and found that our community wasn't for you please take the time to have another look! If you were a member and left to find greener pastures, come back and look at ALFA Evolved.

As part of the PR team, I would like to make this conjecture.

We would like more members, builders, server hosts, players ect...

The first step in that process is to locate folks that would fit our FRCS PW.

As 4th ed, WOW, EQ and other games captivate the bulk of the "younglings" with their flashy action orientated systems we must concede that the bulk of our recruiting pool are experianced gamers, folks that have played in NWN1, D&D. We cannot hope that our restrictive community will draw in the "younglings" when easy exp and treasure have moved in all around us.

Very few people in the NWN community are unaware of us.

So how do we get those people, the ones that never gave ALFA chance? How do we convince those that left ALFA, that we are worthy of a second look.

We have to let everyone know that we are different, that we have changed. I have been gone for 2 years, and it is the same crap as before.

Insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We have tried to fix alot of different things.

Duck hit the nail on the head and prompted me to post this.

We are a community of spiteful children, and mature adults at the mercy of the spoiled children. They scream in the grocery store wanting candy, and we give it to them so they will be quiet for a bit. They kick each other and pull at their sisters hair, and we politely ask them to be nice. When the older brother calls his little brother a frickn idiot njub, we as the parents giggle and encourage them to spit in their brothers face. A cousin comes in and says to us, shouldn't we discourage that kind of behavior? The children scream, no the little brother just shouldn't be a wimp, I have a right to be passionate!

I have a RIGHT to insult people.

And we being intimidated, lazy or possibly desperate for the love of our disfunctional children...succumb to their demands to be ALLOWED to be cruel to their brothers and sisters...

We have to spank them, hell we need to get the belt out and beat the snot out of them. In human society the worst punishment is to be shunned from the group. We need to take out the belt making sure the sound of the leather clearing the loops is heard, and smack that tender bottom until it glows red. Once we have done that, by we I mean every member that has common sense and sees how this behavior affects the project and all of us. These outbursts represent all of us. It should not be allowed to continue.

We should create a new forum thread called. "The gutter" or "The back alley" that area should only be viewable to full members, anytime a thread gets out of hand...even a little of track it gets moved to the gutter.

That is the first informal warning for any involved.

If the negative behavior continues then a strike is issued. 3 strikes and you are OUT. Banned for life..

That gives everyone plenty of warning. Hell we could even put it up to a vote before banning.

Once a policy like this is in place, then we advertise our "ALFA Evolved."

Maybe some of the good people would come back then, maybe we would seem professional then.

The nay-sayers, the libetarians, will say:

We should have the freedom!

Who will you appoint to be such a judge?

But so-and-so is soooooo cool, why would we want them to leave?

I gave ALFA a pretty good shot for a second time, and found that just as Duck said, it is still a tragedy. I will go back to the back ground for now, but I have one foot out the door, again.

I will look at posting again after I get my PC, I have suspicions that when I get it hooked up I won't want to deal with this kind of BS anymore.

contrary to what the "bully's" of ALFA would like you to think, plenty of communities get along without the "FREEDOM TO BE A JACK-ASS."

Throughout my life I have ventured to protect folks from bully's, The jock in HS, the drunk step-father, the abusive boyfriend....ect...

These people feed off of the pain they inflict, like a leech, they are unhappy people who want company...

Scrape em off. Stop tolerating it.

See you in a few months. Peace.

Are you serious?

The Choo Choo train was nothing compared to the spam this place is known for, at least it was an attempt to defuse counter productive, pointless flame wars.

On second thought. Nevermind.

Its just not worth it to me to stick around.

Good luck and good bye.

Send me an e-mail if you guys decide to oust the bully's.

NJ, your passion and enthusiasm is inspiring, and I don't want to lose you as a member of the community or the PR team.

ALFA isn't about forums. The intent of the forums is only insofar as it supports the game environment. Anyone who does anything else with the forums isn't directly contributing to ALFA.

I hope the issue is that you need to get your video card fixed so you can play. I promise that once you log in things aren't nearly as bad as they seem out here.

On a side note, the PR Staff isn't about policy. That's not to say that PR isn't affected by policy and members are free to have and express their own views, but these comments, nor any comments that I or any PR Staff member makes about policy reflects the PR Staff's views.
Currently laying the smackdown on Faerun as: Keryn Tel'Jora, who is XXX-TREME!!!.
Currently explaining the meaninglessness of it all as Vizian Nazyr.
Currently pointing out all other characters' shortcomings as Stephen the Archer.

whats a libetarian?

edit: also,

You're talking about the gen. discussion forum? Spam should be confined there, unless this is spam. Do you regard your post as spam? It could be spam.

Pointless flame wars, drama & dead horses make up 95% of ALFA's GDP. Are you suggesting that we ruin ourselves by just stopping?

I am hoping this is a joke, but in the event it is not... yes. If it requires that someone shave their entire body to remove parasitic infestation, then so be it. Eventually the hair will grow back, sans the parasites.

At this point, ALFA is barely alive (compared to what it used to be), so affirmative action will undeniably rattle a few cages, but it is the best time to do so... as there is far less to lose, and much more to gain.

That you would use an example like that, shaving your entire body to deal with parasites, involves a context I just don't want to know.... :)
