Screenshots!

Hey all!

Just wanted to let everyone know I've taken a few screenshots of the OAS2 for the upcoming OAS2 page and have posted them! For a veiw of what we've been up to for the last year, click under the topic WORLD, the subtopic SHOWCASE GALLERY, then SCREENSHOTS. This gets you guys into screenshots for both platforms and servers that have been gone awhile. Ours is the first listed. As it seems we lack screenshots for OAS1, I'll do those soon. So if you want to see what five or six bumbling fools learning to toolset can do...CHECK IT OUT!

Also, a really special thanks goes to Teric and Acadius. Without the wherewithall they've shown, this project would have definately lagged. You guys did an awesome job, and are still doing an awesome job. Thanks also to HEEGZ, EASTERBUNNY, MAGS, and DERGON VADAR for their contributions to the project.

We are well on our way to having this peice ready for the community. We are currently fixing minor issues, adding content such as more NPC's and statics and dialoge to the exsisting PC's. The DM group for our Application servers is filling out, and I have to say, top notch. With dms such as Wynna, Fanaticus Incindi, Heegz, Dergon, Vaelahr, Peterdin.... needless to say I am extremely excited and psyched! I am extremely fortunate to be working with some for the first time, and with others once again.

I have to say....OAS2 is simply beautiful. Our builders did such a good job on portraying the tradeway between Dragonspear and Soubar, and everytime I log in, I see more to get excited about. Acadius keeps coming up with new Acadius stuff that knocks my socks off... at the moment (as I best understand it) he is working on a loop whereby if the server disconnects it will try to reconnect itself without us having to do a manual deal. GO TOM GO!

We'll be making some important decisions about the server soon, as well as getting some Client training (AL is gonna show us what all these new cool dm doodads do, and from what I hear we will be able to do much more as dms.)

If you have the capability and haven't, download the pwc and take a look around...you will not be disappointed.

Just as an addendum to Daniel's words on the OAS2:

The ALFA worldgate client will set you up with the current pwc file, as well as the alfa_gui.hak which the OAS2 currently requires. (This was a decision made in the interest of supporting gui-driven RP tools like DMFI and Heed's PC Tools).

(It will also give you the other 7 ALFA NWN2 haks, which will be of use when 003 is ready for testing, or if you want a preview of the custom skills framework)

The Worldgate client can be downloaded from the NWVault here:

http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/Download.php?id=108865

Once installed, choose the option to add a new Persistent World, then go straight to the large, friendly "From URL" button down at the bottom of the new PW config screen. Give it the URL www.alandfaraway.org - and the website will feed Worldgate all it needs to know.

As an aside, I've offered to give some DM client training here and there- with Daniel's permission we can probably set a temporary DM password on the OAS2 by appointment and use it for a bit of training- it's really impressive what can be accomplished with the DMFI and Heeds, as compared to what we made do with using the NWN1 DM client.

Permission is granted all, anyone wishing to learn the client pm me, and we'll set up a time!

This is really great news. I don't think any server is as important as the OAS, and the fact that it's had a team of people for over 12 months working on it is a real testament to how well we're doing here. Teric showed me around maybe 6 months ago, and I'm looking forward to going back. Great screens btw...that interior is particularly atmospheric, and the road textures are spot on.

Lazy folks can click here.

Also, I took these images of the OAS during a playtest of a static dungeon crawl earlier this month:

That's a very nice team you've assembled, some of the nicest, most helpful people I've met since joining.

Nice screenies too... although nothing beats taking a stroll through the server yourself.

It's a beautiful server, definitely showcase quality. Consider this: when it's done and tested, ALFA will be on the brink of throwing open its doors for NWN2. Ask yourself two questions:

1) Am I ready?

2) What can I do to make ALFA ready?

Alright guys, the OAS2 webpage is up and running. My two links need a little work as they aren't connecting, but otherwise, is done. Take a moment to check it out and let me know what you think!
It can be accessed through

WORLD, GAME SERVERS, OAS2.

Special thanks to Hialmar for his help, and Wynna for the nudge.

More stuff to come!

I very much like the story going along with the actual screens from the server. That's a great touch. Well done!

The server looks simply awesome. I created a toon and strolled around a bit the last couple of nights. It was very immersive even with just me on the the server. Definitely some fine tuning to do as Daniel mentions but its exciting to be around at this stage of the development of OAS2. Must have felt like this to those that got to see the launch of OAS1 years back. :)

1. I was ready six months ago.

2. Viral marketing with loads of unecessary pop-ups.
