Ice, Nether & Rauvin Mountains Screens (dial-up unfriend

Post by indio »

I'm very happy with these areas...16 24x24 full area transition...took me maybe 10 hours in Photoshop and toolset combined to get these skeletons ready for some decoration. YATT makes light work of region building. This is the eastern heart of TSM, stretching from Sundabar in the west to Ascore in the east, bordering Anauroch.

It's your speed that's astonishing, Indio. Especially turning out that kind of quality. You really should hold a chat room seminar or post a tutorial on how you do that YATT thing. Really. You should.

Very nice! Now some questions...

I did this exact same thing with YATT for waterdeep this summer. However I could never get the toolset to save the areas and it would freeze/crash nearly every time. Is the toolset more stable now with MotB because this is an awesome way to pump out areas if it's reliable now.

It's actually really easy to pick up. The hardest part is creating your source image(s) in photoshop. I'm guessing that within 2 hours of downloading YATT I had 48 areas in the size shown here mapping out the entire city of WD according to canon. My problem was that I couldn't get my toolset to save or keep from crashing. Using YATT it is pretty intuitive and definitely pays dividends for time invested as you can see here. I'm encouraged to see lots of areas resulting from it because I was unable to do this last summer. Hope to get MotB eventually and give it another try.

If anybody is interested in doing this it's pretty easy if you know how to do any sort of digital imaging and have a basic understanding of the toolset.

It's rough, done in an hour, but it might help.

Nate
My YATT plugin crashes or fails to complete if I throw too much at it...on my laptop I can't get more than 16 24x24 areas. If I try for say 20 areas, I run out of memory and crash.

The toolset is quite stable if run in Directory mode otherwise, but that's been the case since before MotB. I suspect Waterdeep would be best divided into multiple Super Area projects, each of say 16 areas (or whatever suits), and built that way instead.

Thanks, Indio.
