New OAS2 Beta

Post by Teric neDhalir »

I will be putting a new version of the OAS2 up for testing (PWStory on Gamespy) within the hour and invite you all along to have a look.

There's a new .pwc file here. Normal ALFA password. Still at update 1.06.980.

Things I need testing:
1) Should be persistent. Please check if you appear back where you logged out.
2) Some of the merchants now give rewards for items found around the server - please check that you receive xp/gp and that it is still there when logging back in.
3) There are now healers in Soubar and Boareskyr Bridge. Let me know if you get healed correctly if you need it.
4) Spawns and NPCs should now behave more reasonably as they have actually got some scripts assigned to them.

All comments welcome on the OAS Beta forum.

Module updated to patch 1.10. (And is it my imagination or have they turbo-charged the graphics? It seems to be much smoother than before :))

Sorry, mod has not been there for a while. Putting the mod back online now - please report whether it seems stable or not, stays online, has variable ping, etc.
Cheers
TnD

EDIT: Mod name now OAS_046. I assume you will need to rename the .pwc file OAS_046.pwc. (The data in the .pwc has not changed).

Mod taken offline again due to excessive CPU usage (and I don't want my PC to melt, or anything).

Yeah, don't let it get your machine too!

On a more serious note, we really need to work out what's making an idle NWN2 server run through the roof on CPU cycles, otherwise it's going to be fairly crippling in the long run. I think 003 has behaved for Indio so far, so I'm hoping it's something module-specific.

Just to alleviate confusion: The pwc linked in Teric's post above is not current. I'm hosting the OAS2 for the time being, and here is the info you'll need if you want to connect to it:

Server Name: ALFA OAS2 Test Server
PW Story, password (same as ALFA's player password)
If you need to direct connect, it's 67.172.180.55:5127

The pwc is RAR'd here (and goes in your /docs/NWN2/pwc/ folder):

http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/N ... 2_test.rar

You may also want to download the DMFI UI- certainly as a DM, it's extremely helpful. As a player, it lets you speak languages through a scripted system (letter replacement code, not canon translation). The files for that are RAR'd here:

http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/N ... mfi_ui.rar

you'll want to put the "DMFI UI" folder in your /docs/nwn2/ui/custom/ folder.
then, put the "ingameguix1.ini" in your /docs/nwn2/ui/default/ folder

Then, you should be all set.

Is this UI modification compatible with MotB?

The UI worked fine for me with MotB loaded.

Yes, I followed some interim instructions to merge it with MotB's files. The official 1.10 version is due out soon from what I hear, but the one we've got works ingame now.

Note also that both the OAS2 files and the current NWN2 ALFA haks (for building, and for the Beta servers) can be obtained using the Worldgate client, and configuring from URL: www.alandfaraway.org
