MotB - latest news from the Vault

Post by Aelred »

VAULT NEWS 07/07/07

IGN.com UK has an interview with Obsidian's Feargus Urquhart on the NWN2 expansion Mask of the Betrayer. "Topics covered include changes to the toolset, tweaks to the game's performance and inventory system, as well as interactions with alternate dimensions". Other topics of note are that the Stronghold system will not continue in MotB, the starting level will be level 18. The Spirit Shaman base class is definitely in, and the suggestion that planes travel will play a part in the story. Also 6 new races will be added, 4 elementally bound Genasi, wild elf and half drow! They are also working on a new improved version of the DM client which will have a party control bar as well as other features for the game overall. MotB will have over 2 dozen new monsters including Blue & Bronze Dragons, Hags, Hagspawn and a two headed Fell Troll! For a ripping read and lots more nfo, hop on over to read the full interview! We'll be updating our NX1 FAQ with this information also.

Well it seems the expansion is definitely going to be released, and with community-driven enhancements. Good show Obsidian.

Why even bother worrying about dragons, you'll hardly see one in ALFA anyway, I want more basic things!

People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Atari have released a new fact sheet for Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer which is due out this October.

Following the climactic battle against the King of Shadows, you awaken alone and stranded deep beneath the earth. A dark hunger grows within you, threatening to devour your very soul. Will you fight against the hunger within or will you embrace it, revelling in your newfound power?
Epic storyline provides the most riveting RPG experience since Planescape: Torment, with the compelling characters and plotlines for which Obsidian Entertainment is renowned.
Bold claim. But I was quite impressed with the NWN2 official campaign.
Stunning new environments include the Astral Plane, sunken Imaskari ruins, a Thayan wizard academy, and the Shadow Plane.
Combat and negotiate with dozens of new creatures including many D&D favourites such as blue dragons, treants, hags, solars, and the two-headed fell troll.
Solars are the only one I hadn't heard were in before.
Customize your character with over 60 epic feats including the monk’s Blazing Aura, the rogue’s Epic Precision, and the druid’s Dragon Shape.

Master more than 50 new spells, including epic spells such as mass fowl, damnation, and vampiric feast.

Play new D&D classes such as the Red Wizard of Thay, spirit shaman, and invisible blade.
I know nothing about any of those! Anyone want to enlighten?
Collect souls from defeated foes to create mighty artefacts using an expanded item enchantment system.
Umm.... OK..... :?
Current PCs:
NWN1: Soppi Widenbottle, High Priestess of Yondalla.
NWN2: Gruuhilda, Tree Hugging Half-Orc

Mass Fowl summons one thousand starving, rabid chickens around your enemy, who must produce a worm to distract the fowl wihin 3 seconds or be plucked to death.
