afaik there is actually a fix for CE (switches off when casting and is scalable from 1 to 5 based on BAB) that was made by Ronan in the Repo - not sure when thats due to be implemented though.

You are carving the beast, mate ;)
Well, i'll be damned. To be honest, what I thought I was doing, was giving a voice to my fears and perhaps I use a bit too much strong words, but I don't think that is on purpose. It's just the way I express myself. I had words with Zelknolf this morning (my time) and from what I can gather, there is no beef.

I'm actually not trying to argue the issue. But thank you for the support.. I guess? 8)

Technically "we" only elect 40% of the Admins. The rest is elected by a very small and tightly knit group. But hey, that's a discussion for another day. ;)

Also: please do not blow this out of proportion. It's all based of fear of being forcibly retired, something I know wont just happen overnight. But fear is irrational and I'd rather get my fear out of the way so I can focus on having fun, than living with an imagined knife against my throat.
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

To be fair, that small tightly-knit group makes up about a third of ALFA's active population, and is far from tightly knit. We regularly bring forth opposing plans to move the community forward and divide ourselves in the passionate defense of those ideas-- often delivered with a kind of insult that is most in-context when in a movie that markets itself by being unrated. It is also worth noting that it is quite easy to join that group; it's a rare person who doesn't have the skills to be any staff or a DM. That's not to say that the DMA/ TA/ IA electorate is perfect in design, but I'd at least argue that it's not some super-secret boys' club that one must learn the special handshake through subterfuge to join.

There is also no "forced retirement" on the table; there never will be. It was a foolish pursuit when it was suggested some year and a half ago, and never mustered support those times it was brought up after-- and now that there's a unanimous admin ruling saying "No, we will not force any characters to retire," and even "the restriction of this class only holds my support if we can promise that no one will be forced to retire a currently-live character," it would just be tilting at windmills. I expect any such tilting would meet an appropriately-quixotic end.
