Anything else not leading up to cvc at least in the area wouldve been mostly ooc niceness towards other players. If i made a tormite cleric or paladin and walked around skaug preaching about the evil of slavery and stealing, i should expect a swift end and in the interest of survival go elsewhere. Similarily a obviously lolth worshipping drow should be slaughtered within seconds by just about anyone if caught upground. If that doesnt happen, i dont think we are taking the forgotten realms background very serious. Good benchmark seems to me to ask, what likely wouldve been other pcs reaction towards the velsharonites if they had been npcs. If the answer differs (and i would maintain, that it wouldve only accelerated violence), we have bias either way, but i dont really think it applied in that situation.
As to the hunting "fest, i think that is mostly paranoia. The one instance i was involved in started out relatively peacefull and if isenheart wouldve wanted, his pc couldve made an easy getaway several times. So if there was any eagerness for the conflict, it was definately not entirely onesided.
And that happens all the time. Ask the Thayan who walked into a bar on MS...annouced he was a apprentice to the red wizards and lived all of one day, because he was lured to his death. When you play a faction opposed to the resident factions, you must keep it secret, though I believe silvy has evil temples no (I know it did in NWN1 days)? If you roll up openly evil PCs expect the NPC factions to react just as strongly, if your evil PC is a memeber of a reviled faction (as opposed to your run of the mill evil). As I warned one player, yes you can have a surface drow on MS, but the minute it's spotted outside skaug, it will be hunted by the NPCs. My pint is to keep stuff IC. And yes I did have half a story, so iwas going on the facts given, if the events did not unfold as told, then they got what they IC deserved.
And our DMs know better than to send PC factions after each other during plots. That's a very murky area, one i would not tread upon unless the PCs wanted to run such a plot.
