I still think we would be better off by taking the high road with alfa chat. What does it say about our community when the chat is Rated "R".
Men get a different type of respect unless they are elderly or unable to defend themselves(such as those with handicaps). In my part of the world a man is expected to stand on his two feet and fight his own battles.

I've never seen that happen in Off-Topic. If anything that section of the Forums has more disagreements and debates than any other part of ALFA but as long as people remain somewhat civil to each other and don't cross the line (Attacks, porn, threats, etc..) the threads are left alone.Danubus wrote:or if they personally dont like your views either.Moderators wouldn't hesitate to punish anyone in Off-Topic who crossed the line, especially if it was a personal attack

I formally request no other threads be opened regarding chat moderation until this thread has reached page 10 and is locked. As blunt as i can be, i will not tolerate having the forums flooded with a multitude of threads regarding the same topic, especially when those threads are antagonistic and damaging to the community.
Also realize the forum rules still apply, and certain behaviors will not be tolerated in this forum section. With consideration to those who are trying to make a point, if you cannot present new arguments, do not repeatedly present the same arguments or you will be deemed as either spamming or trolling (depending on the tone). This is a general warning.
In closing, I wish everyone to realize Hialmar's intentions with this poll was both honorable and considerate. He provided this community an opportunity to participate in a decision on whether #alfa chat should be moderated or another chat channel created, which would undergo moderation. The majority of the community decided to have #alfa chat moderated.
Let me iterate:
The majority of the community, and not Hialmar or the Moderators, made the decision to have #alfa chat moderated, as opposed to having a new PG-13 chat channel created.

I'd rather nobody opened another thread on moderation at all. Quite frankly all the discussion that was worth having was already had and all that's left now is whinning and bitching.

Some did, Vendrin. Many more decided they wanted #alfa moderated.Vendrin wrote:No they decided they wanted only one channel.White Warlock wrote:

And where was that? All we were asked to vote on was whether we wanted 2 channels.FanaticusIncendi wrote:Some did, Vendrin. Many more decided they wanted #alfa moderated.Vendrin wrote:No they decided they wanted only one channel.White Warlock wrote:

I think a seperate poll would be in order for moderating the exsisting channel myself, if the communities input was needed.
However, after witnessing the input in this thread, I wouldn't think any more polls forthcoming. Hialmar, you were elected. I appreciate you taking the time to ask us our opinions on a slightly controversial subject, that was pretty big of you. If this sort of stuff burns you up/out, don't do it man, you were elected because you are capable. WHatever direction you choose to go in, I think you are doing one heck of a job in finding ways to make this community more cohesive in the long term vs. the short term. Thanks for your efforts, keep it up, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask, man.

Actually such a poll already has been had Swift. Two years ago.

And I am no longer worried, discussion was already had and in the end, Bear's policies didn't stand simply because they stopped being enforced. I feel the same will occur here, so chat will be back to normal in a few months.
