i guess my claim is that if you are hoping to base decisions on numbers, using numbers that cannot be correlated to anything aren't much good. I wouldn't go so far as to call it rancid, but i would say that it is a poor application of science.
You do ask for options, which is valid. I personally think it really isn't so complex. Admin should play. They should go to the servers, they should experience what is going on. They should see how fast they can level, they should watch as others level. I know one of the Admin in particular was a great beta tester back in the day (Go Murk!) and would be in good position to evaluate these things on a face to face basis.
While this would be far from scientific, and won't catch 100% of things, i think it is a much better way to take the pulse of things.
I would reiterate, i don't think what you are doing is a bad or wrong thing, i merely think the data you get will not be good for making any sort of decision.

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn

I beg to differ and I wasn't referring to you specifically about being "rancid" about the idea. Others have made it known they don't care to know, probably because they don't see the need to change anything. Hard to do of course when your somewhat blind.ayergo wrote:I would reiterate, i don't think what you are doing is a bad or wrong thing, i merely think the data you get will not be good for making any sort of decision.
I've been promised some old information that can be used for a comparison so we'll see how it goes. It certainly can't hurt to take a look to see what the differences are. Then people can decide for themselves.

Ah...yes anyway back to the poll.
5th level with my first (current) character since I started playing on ALFA last year... End of July beginning of August. So around 5 levels in 13 months.
Actually thats probably not right - I've died twice so would it be near enough to 6.3 lvls in 13 months?
Ahem.

Made 10 about a year and 2-3 months ago, was about 7k from 13 when I had my only death. And now I'm about 4k from 12, so unless I suddenly get dm attention that makes sense for my pc I won't be leveling for a few months.MorbidKate wrote:Of the 14 who mentioned they were Level 10 or above 6 forgot to mention what their current Level was. For the sake of determining the average Level of our player base could you please state it if you are not on this list?
Thank you.
Swift: 10 or are you about to hit 11? Pick one please.
