Let's try to stay on topic please.

I've gotten the haks and other files uploaded to my PC and was able to successfully navigate in WD and NC. Next step is to upload all of the haks and extra files for people to download, as well as the finishing of the preparation of the server. There is a small chance this may all be accomplished before the weekend...

@ Heegz: I'm happy after my umteenth time buying nwn due to lost or broken discs I was wise enough to buy it on GOG where I downloaded nwn to the new computer. Now if I can find a good deal on nwn2! If-When the server go's up if a player or DM is needed please mark me up.

@ Brokenbone. Sorry to say the whole Foxmantle expedition was ambushed on the way to Mezro by a clan of cannibalistic Flaming Fists pygmies from Fort Beluarian. Rosa Bitter was the only one to escape with Eshodow's Promise in tow (she blended in well with the pygmies). It is said to this day there is a tribe of little folk from Chult who fancy wearing over sized purple and gold clothes made from the finest of Sembian silk. Jacobim did make his mark on his last expedition, well in a fashion and culinary sort of way.

@FoamBats4All ,Adanu: Sorry too much coffee last night.

You sure he can't be one of Mezro's super-paladin "bara" guys? They have two Cormyreans, the Rayburtons, I am sure a Foxmantle could have given the place some real order. Oh well! :)

How about instead of doing this, we keep working on making Alfa with Nwn2 better ? I mean seriously, if its successful people will play there instead of playing nwn2. I get it, some if you are bored with the play/settings we have now, but that can be addressed. I think if its done outside of Alfa, feel free go ahead, but if its under the Alfa moniker all I see is a split happening, but I guess that will happen anyways.

I suppose one benefit will be that perhaps one future version of Alfa can have common sense rules that promote fun.

I haven't posted much about the new NWN2 stuff yet because there is not enough solid info to post about at the moment. I have recently downloaded the 000 travel server and am currently checking out what is there and how it might be integrated into Live play.

As for NWN1, the idea was to make use of stuff that already exists and that can be easily tapped once again to give members alternative places to play a PC and get their RP on. An added benefit, from my recent experience, is that my use of the NWN1 toolset has got me interested in building for NWN2 again. If this happened with a few other people...

tl;dr version: "We have yet to invent the tool that turns forum posts into module content"

Where are the contributions people? I have yet to see a single solitary static built for MS that I did not physically code myself or for the mail system that I did not have help from paazin/Ronan to port over to MS. Not a single one, I've been asking for volunteers to help add static content to our servers since they went live. It's been years...zip nada. Our builders are about tool-setted out at the moment.

We have a fully working Waterdeep module that's already been built. You guys wanted more PCs anyways, this is more PCs.

QFT.

A lot of, "build me _______", and, "you should build ________ instead of _________"; yet, absolutely none of, "Ill build you ________".

And a fully built Undermountain.
And vast wildernesses that can be a sandbox.

NWN2 is too limited for me (personal opinion)
Dimmest of Wits

btw I have many copies of haks and servers from different ages of alfa should anyone need them
Happy to burn yet more cd's as we all used to

Damart,

Please get with me to dropbox/transfer those files for our Tech FTP library on the DM FTP

We'll be looking at a more advanced distribution for campaign servers, e.g. one of those tacky download sites. To bad mega upload got shut down. :P

And came back as MEGA.

Additionally, distribution would not even be needed, because players did not need copies of the mods in NWN1. They just logged in and played.

I prob have a copy of TSM around here somewhere on my vast network of hard drives, if anyone wants to use it. Sundabar's probably still in the middle of being invaded by Shadovar though.

My favorite avatar in ALFA history was GF's picture of Tariq Aziz standing in front of the camera with the quote 'There are no Shadovar in Sundabar!"

Whoever decides to host there are these two nifty programs.

Worldgate 1.8
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... tail&id=29]WorldGate%201.5

Image
*note* built for nwn2 servers, but works for nwn1 servers as well.

OR This

Server Custom Content Downloader
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Ot ... il&id=1480

Image

Both work like the nwn2 auto downloader so players DM's alike don't need to mess with hak, tlk files to play because it automatically downloads and puts them in the correct place for you.

All of our NWN1 haks and the tlk file are uploaded to the website now. I just need confirmation that people can download them without issue. I have put some suggestions for NWN1 installation into a readme, as well as a brief explanation of where to extract the files. I've also uploaded the optional portraits, and music haks will be added soon. The download link is found here:

Can some of you try downloading these and report back here?
