Re: How did you find out about Alfa?
Vergin Sacrifice convinced me to play single player with her, then to try out a PW for a while. I was not overly joyed, was just silly. But when she moved to ALFA, she assured me this was the kind of place I would enjoy. So Feb 2012 I joined.
I have been enjoying the RP of alfa ever since.

After a lot of convincing from the former member "ballonger" I reluctantly sent an application.
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

Re: How did you find out about Alfa?
From playing on Exodus. I don't remember how I came to Exodus though. I think it was a google search after seeing the server name? I could be wrong.
Either way, Exodus was my first real taste of actual DnD. I never even knew the game used dice rolls in the background until my first day there, where me and a bunch of others did a mock fight in an arena. I then proceeded to play in two DM campaigns at once without realizing it, and basically hit the ground running when I didn't even know how to walk yet.
I'm still amazed I survived that.

I've tried that. He was.. less than enthusiastic.. when I brought up ALFA. He didn't want to talk about why he left, but it clearly made him angry to discuss.maxcell wrote:boombrakh wrote:After a lot of convincing from the former member "ballonger" I reluctantly sent an application.

Just one - the ALFAquake. We've had other "events" but just one ALFAquake. We've had people prognosticating the ALFAgeddon a long time, but it obviously has not happened now.

I met someone whom I befriended in high school, grade 9. We spoke about IWD and BG games, and eventually he mentioned NWN and the ALFA community he has been apart of. I applied and was accepted shortly thereafter, and have been around (for better or worse) ever since, although lately it's been less and less.

Played on an NWN1 PW run by ALFAquake refugees (The Dalelands server). Got a taste of DMing by evio and Thingray, played with McJoker, Ogregrim, and Misty... Decided to try out this permadeath thing and died quickly. At least a half-dozen times.
I've been on the rollercoaster since then. What a ride!

Re: How did you find out about Alfa?
I was browsing for a PW, after the one I played on went down, found 7 servers with Alfa on them, applied and got hooked.

Hey hey Fionn, nice to see you on the boards. After we chatted on FB yesterday I was hoping you'd stop by, and even maybe play a little.
