pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

I initiated using the bonus hit point property the game supplies us when I was still Standards Head, but there's many unresolved tech problems that sunk the proposal (for now).

Discussion can be found here.

Restricted to backpacks only.

Which was a really good choice because.

Wearing of backpacks denotes you as a noob, so people get rid of them asap.

Who doesn't want to wear a cape?

PLUS, would you trade all the extra bonuses, immunities, and effects ofther items could grant for that extra 50hp. I think not. I'd rather have spell resistance, elemental resisitance, spell slots, stat boosts etc.

Velian: After skimming the thread, it seems like a lot of course correction before the rocket even took off. What the rules state don't neccessarily predict what will happen in game. Perhaps a trial run would be a better indicator..
AFAIK it was a one off noob item (+5hp backpack) 100gp, OOC boost for survivability, you couldn't craft "better ones", and it really wasn't a big issue. But that sadly is ALFA's MO, the smaller the issue, the bigger the discussion about it.

Not one person (even the RP ones) ran around expounding the greateness of their magical back packs.

There is a real easy solution to this that does not require XP multipliers and avoids people progressing by doing boring repeatable fed ex statics -- up the XP and loot rewards on the non-boring statics that already exist and make some of them repeatable. Put a diminishing returns script on them or limit them to 1X per real life week or even a combination of both. Thus, the casual player can log on once per week lets say, group up and go out on a fun adventure for some decent rewards and advancement, but the every day gamer doesn't get an unlimited farming opportunity. However, the everyday gamer still gets the benefit of more XP via the RPXP script for hours logged on, which is fair. I would also like to see a few old fashioned dungeon crawl statics added that are level restricted. Frankly, level restricted statics are awesome as you can up the CR without worry of killing off PCs not ready to do them, and they give high level characters something to do without a DM that actually involves some risk.
