However, I do have a question:

You mentioned removing OAS1 from our books. That's fine, the need for that server is questionable. I personally feel that if the resources exist for it (and do not pull resources from other aspects of the community), there is no harm in maintaining it, however, it is not a pressing need that we absolutely must maintain.

I am more concerned with the OAS2. We do not have enough OAS2 DMs and interest does not seem that high. What are your thoughts on changing this?

Recently, there was talk of granting 'incentives' for community involvement (such as volunteering to DM on the OAS2). Examples include possible one time IC awards at PC creation (starting at level 2, starting with an heirloom magic sword, starting with twice the starting gold, etc). Would you support such a thing?

That's a damn good question. I'm not sure how to attract DMs as yet, except for perhaps stealing an idea... I believe the credit for it was yours Jayde... to have current NWN2 DMs put in some time on the OAS. The benefits I see are that the currently accepted DMs are, in fact, already DMs and DMing on the requisite platform. Requiring once per week to screen and mentor applicants does not seem burdensome. Of course I'm open to other suggestions.

The drawbacks being not all DMs are of the right temperament or inclination to mentor others. This does not reflect poorly on those DMs, it is simply not in their style. But at this stage, I cannot see the harm in trying.

As to the idea of in-game rewards for contributing to the community, I'm not afraid to say I'm absolutely against it. The IC world should, to the best of our respective abilities, be separate from the OOC world. Perhaps another way of rewarding contributions can be found, but player X explicitly getting DMing for his PC not on his merits of being attractive to DM A but for something beyond the game actually opens itself to more negative issues than positive, in my eyes. There are, as ever, going to be the rampant accusations of favoritism. Why couldn't the player get DMing otherwise? Sometimes it is as simple as timezone and availability issues, sometimes it's because the only DM available does not care for player X's style, or maybe even that player X has issues with DMs A, B, and C... the only ones who can DM in his available gaming time.

I'd be more inclined to pay someone for their time than give IC bonuses that cannot be had through the old fashioned routes of posting availability, sending in bios, chatting with prospective DMs.

I hope this satisafctorily answers your questions.

and no, I don't hate your guts. 8)
