A leadfeather and duck sighting in one thread?! Epic.

Giving 20-30 quality players a vote may not seem like a bad idea, but just think of all the nitwits we had when the playerbase was three times as big.

Giving the former equal voice to the latter
Players don't get to vote for DMA. So there's at least one Admin position that makes DM voice > Player voice.

Who votes for infra and tech? Not the entire playerbase, methinks. In fact I think it's DMs!

So basically, making the Lead votable by players will still give DMs control of who makes up 60% of the Admin as well as having a (in this time of low playerbase) large say in the other 40%.

Hardly an equal voice.

And agree with Dan. Bureaucracy and red tape? Full of it here.
<Burt>: two dudes are better than one.

Mikayla wrote:The quake came about because we had an all-powerful, authoritarian Admin, so some of the HDMs (including you) took it upon themselves to have a little revolt, using their servers for leverage. Now, as we discuss giving the vote to an even wider group (all ALFAns) you say we court the same disaster? Well, then what you are really saying is that the HDMs should be the only ones with power (not Admin, like before, or ALFAns, as suggested here) otherwise they will act like children and pick up their toys and go home. Some system.

Oh, and bad-Duck - no thread necromancy!
To be clear, the so-called quake came about because some of those who were working the hardest did not have enough say in the fruit of their own work as control lay in the hands of a select few. Taking that control and handing it not to the HDM's but instead to the will of the masses will not make them any more at ease. As for your notion that my suggestion would leave the HDM's being the only ones with power, I think you had best give a fair appraisal to the real power of the lead admin, and the checks put in place by the constitution, and you'll see that simply isn't the case. That said, as history has shown, this project will rise and fall with the HDM's as the lifeblood, so if you are to skew the balance of power, the HDM's are wise place to do it.

As for necromancy of threads, that is of course my trademark, so thanks for noticing.

I believe the ADMs are the true lifeblood because they are what attracts the players on a day to day basis. The HDMs of course are critical because so much needs to be done to create the setting in the first place and keep it alive with changing content.

I have no problem with those who truly devote their free time to breathe life into ALFA to vote for Lead Admin.

You gotta love these occasional ALFA dysfunctional family get togethers. Thanksgiving came early this year.

Now somebody needs to get drunk and act sexually inappropriate.

And yes I'm trying to spam/end this thread. Where is the PR guy when you need him?
