Admin Playing?
Moderator: ALFA Administrators
GSID is another issue that I believe is being discussed elsewhere.
Personally, I now feel Admin should play, subject to th esame rules as DM's. I also think tht they could, nay should, use different GameSpy ID's, and that the HDM and Player or DM Admin should keep a list.
I also wouldn't mind if non-Admin could use a different GS ID, as long as the HDM of the server and the Player/DM Admin know. I feel it allows us to RP in a freer way than if we use our "recognizable" identity.

Both Admin (when allowed) and DMs are only supposed to be playing a little here and there so why all the need for secret lists and other foolishness? It only suggests to the rest of us that they play more than they are willing to admit publicly so why not be open about it since there's really nothing to hide?Liam wrote:GSID is another issue that I believe is being discussed elsewhere.

When Duck and I were admins and playing, we used alternate GSIDs to avoid any favoritism, either in getting extra stuff or in getting PKed because they thought we sucked at admining. I don't know if it really mattered at all, but that's the basic reasoning. It has nothing to do with time or secrecy or anything, we simply wanted to be treated exactly the same as any other player.MorbidKate wrote:Both Admin (when allowed) and DMs are only supposed to be playing a little here and there so why all the need for secret lists and other foolishness? I was going to say. It's only a matter of time before everyone knows anyway so why bother? Just seems silly.Solgen wrote:GFs secret player identities were never very secret anyways....
In fact, it reminds me of the Monthy Python skit: The art of not being seen.

I've seen some secret IDs carried out extremely well during my time here! I won't name any of them (as that'll ruin the secret), but on a few occasions I haven't noticed (nor had anyone else) some good friends of mine playing right beside me, until I was told.MorbidKate wrote:I was going to say.
