Ah, I see.

Congrats on live status. It occurred to me last night that a concept I have been dying to try out would actually fit in perfectly on Moonshaes. If things don't work out with my current PC, I know what I'll be rolling up next!

Switchover to the Live Vault will happen some time today, pending AL & Castano getting together.

The hope is to have portalling available later this week. For now, a PC travelling to the Moonshaes will have to arrange with a Moonshaes DM for validation from Q after logging in there. Travel from TSM to the Moonshaes will be via ship from Baldur's Gate, and will require a 24-hour RL layover in BG.

New PCs created on the Island Kingdom server will not need to worry about this aspect.

Congrats to Castano and the Moonshaes Team!

Moonshaes is now Live.

Central vault is connected, so expect a few seconds lag at times when opening the "select character" window.

Scripted portals to/from Baldur's Gate and/or The Silver Marches should be available within 48 hours or so.

Congratuations to Castano and his build team! (and big thanks to those testers who helped work out the details along the way).

Soo...uhhh...what is the point of this restriction?

1) It prevents BG DMs from moving between TSM and Moonshaes since they cant play on their own server, and this enforces them to do so, essentially restricting anyone who chooses to step up and help the community by DMing on BG to one server.
2) We have rules to prevent event hopping and DM shopping. Why dont we just use them to punish players that do it rather that putting up ridiculous walls like this?
3) Considering the small size of our community, what is the point of such artificial, arbitrary blocks on people playing together? Have we recently had issues with people running between TSM and BG to farm XP?

Baldurs Gate is weeks upon weeks of travel from The Silver Marches yet, for the most part, we have not enforced any kind of restriction on people portalling between the two servers and to my knowledge, it has not been abused by people to hit DM events on both servers. I simply don't understand the point of such an arbitrary wall considering we are only a small community when it comes to active players.

Overall, I am glad another server has gone live, but these restrictions totally negate any positive energy this puts into the community.

MS -> BG portal is in.

You may take the boat from the Caer Callidyrr harbor, not Corwell Town.

To get to teh boat, walk east out of Corwell, til you reach Kingsbay, ride that boat to the Caer Callidyrr harbor and then walk up the docks until you see a ship captain named: "Balduran Ship Captain"

Talk to the "Balduran Ship Captain", give him 5gp...and you will be AT'd to the portaling ship.

There really is'nt enough players and/or DMs right now to be concerned about server hopping. Even with BG and TSM, the most switches were done by either brand new players trying to find a DM in their timezone OR done every two weeks or so by VERY few travelling players (who as of late don't even play anymore.)

Not only that but due to the inbreeding of DMs from server to server, people will find themselves being muled over by their players and vice versa. So the people with buddies who are DM or have DMs in their timezone get the privilidge of being moved over and circumventing BG.

I had one other RANDOM suggestion:

With Western Heartlands sitting right up on the Gamespy with no BETA on it (so it looks like we have four awesome servers), why not have a open server weekend for ALFA? I can drum up the interest and the players. After that is just one generic password switch and switch to a new password and perhaps the admin in charge of applications to do personal interviews at a certain time each day and/or an orientation OC meeting?

We've done this in the past with some success, with the amount of great work thats been put in, especially lately, It'd be awesome. Does require some planning though.
