Loot script testing began a couple days ago. Please bear with us as we work out the implementation.

Thanks for your patience, and please try to have fun while we get things working as designed.

Swift: Dont worry, Rusty mostly contrubutes by ensuring forum drama doesnt die down for very long ;)
Ha!

And how does serial complainers become just Amar? Dude, you're two people!

Yes, if not for all the dead PC's, I'd have long since run out of healing potions, and I don't even strip dead bodies, I just take the healing potions and the gold and bury the rest with them (wastebasket). But more than loot or xp what seems to be really missing to me is just something to do... I actually miss the SD patrol statics. I know I know, work in progress. ;)

To be fair, Amar does complain enough for at least two people. Possibly three or four.

Last I heard, loot tables weren't even in place for the grand majority of monster types- it's only been rolled out for a handful of them to see if it's working. The placeholder scripts I wrote before Cipher put together the loot system placed gold on 1/4 of the creatures/NPCs spawned, for PCs to find (and boosted that to 4x what it would have been per creature, as the first iteration meant fields of 1-2gp loot bags after a large battle). It may well be that some of the spawning creatures don't have the right scripts in place- areas in which 10 or more creatures are slain without any gold (or other loot) dropping should be reported on the bug threads for The Silver Marches so the blueprints can be checked. There's a quirk of the import process that sometimes makes imported creature blueprints look like they've got our scripts, when they really don't.

Would it have been better to have everything in place and the bugs worked out before Live? Sure, but I'm guessing everyone playing is glad we're not still in Beta, since they're ingame and enjoying themselves now, and, with few exceptions, wouldn't touch the Beta version of the server with a very long stick.

With regard to the "dramatically underwealth PCs" who are 3rd level now with only a pittance of gold and gear- remember that the wealth guidelines are for DMs to use in considering plot rewards, not an expectation for static gain. Total wealth is not supposed to increase exactly in lock-step with XP, otherwise you'd never be able to earn anything "big" as a quest reward- think of the distance between "current wealth" and "average/recommended wealth" as your "Loot potential" - the greater the difference, the more free of a hand a DM has to deliver a custom magic item, for example.

You can look at it like "I haven't gotten a single major DM reward for my character in three levels!" - but you have to realize, it's also saying "I haven't gotten a single major DM reward for my character in a week and a half!". The latter sounds quite a bit less justified than the first, especially considering it's been the first week and a half since Live, and the DMs have had their hands full during that time. I actually think the system has held up well, considering.

So please, report the bugs where they're found, so they can be dealt with, have some patience on the developing loot system (and don't expect it to deliver GP=XP, as that's never been the intent), and let the DMs do their job in lining up suitable awards down the line.

I don't really care that much about the gold or wealth - the game is going great and I have told every single TSM DM just that, and some more than once. I have even sent private PMs to the some of the builders and DMs thanking them profusely for what they have done.

This bit by Rusty however:
DMs have much better things to do than listen to people complaining about not having enough GP, particularly when the parties involved are both serial complainers and serial non-contributors.
Go f**k yourself Rusty. Seriously. Lets look at my contributions over the years:

1. Built an entire server for NWN1
2. DM'd 3 campaigns including the only campaign currently in the ALFA Hall of Fame.
3. Wrote the Pillars of ALFA
4. Helped draft the Charter
5. Served, for almost 2 years as Player Admin
6. Served, for over 2 years, as a DM, both HDM and ADM, on multiple servers.
7. Have contributed more words and stories to the ALFA library than any other author, except maybe Misty. Maybe.
8. Contributed fiction and columns to the ALFA Herald when in operation.
9. As Player Admin, restored faith in the dispute system by making it transparent.

And now you have the gall to say I am a serial non-contributor?

And as for 'serial-complainer' - I am not the one who quit my job as an Admin, then took a private dispute matter to the public forums to whine about it, then re-nominated to run for DMA, then drove out our only near-Live server HDM.

So, frankly Rusty, blow me.

DM Code of Conduct

"DMs are to be held to a higher standard, as they are community leaders by virtue of the position of authority that they hold. DMs will strive to be polite to other members on the forums or IRC channel. In-game infractions by those with DM status will not be tolerated whether DMing or playing a PC. Sanction is entirely at the judgement of the DM Admin, who may choose anything from counselling for isolated indiscretions to immediate and permanent removal from DM status for substantive or repeated misbehaviour."

Got elections (which get won) and recall (which get defeated) as the current methods of governing conduct.
ALFA NWN2 PCs: Rhaggot of the Bruised-Eye, and Bamshogbo

Actually, we have moderators, led by the LA, which should be governing code of conduct on these forums and in chat.

I suppose it's up to the LA to determine what level of conduct different folks should be held to on these forums (and in chat) based on their position within the community.

If it gets 'bad' she can dole out warnings and seventh chances.

For my part, I apologize to the bulk of ALFA for the hostile tone of my previous post (said apology does not extend to Rusty of course). I am sorry for the flames - having spent 5 straight years contributing to ALFA in every way I could (inlcuding providing legal advice, which I forgot to mention above, and writing legal letters to WotC) to then get called a "serial non-contributor" is incredibly maddening. I feel like Rusty, who occupies a postion of trust, resposibility and leadership, has just taken a completely unwarranted dump on all 5 years of my work here, and that makes me really mad, and frankly, I think an apology is in order.

Please work this out in PMs, which is where it started. We don't need another round of flames. As BB noted, the move to recall Rusty just failed. Posting PMs and dragging out who hates who and who threw the first punch and just who insulted whom is counterproductive. Please. Go play.
