Like race matters. Whatever an ALFAn rolls up, it always ends up being a homoerotic furry.

Tieflings are tame. you get some arsed up ECL just for a bit of extra stats and some resistances.
You could just buy 'gear' to give you those properties on your PC and have had a couple extra levels. Which in ALFA is like 3-4 months of dedicated daily playing.
Pure blood humans PWN tieflings any day in ALFA's version of D&D and socially you got it a lot easier as a straight human in most regions.

If honour is truth and a lie is respect, then a secret is sacred.
Confide in me my friend and I shall love you like no other.

Jagoff.
YaY! (not to quote some cleric from daggerdale) another chance to cry about this year's most dramatic tragedy.
Now really, i am certain there is more interest in this "community" for playing tieflings and assimars than deep gnomes...else this undead horse wouldn't pop again.
Let's see, I am one of those tards who refuse to accept the truth (no planetouched in alfa), but why do i want to play a tiefling?
Red skin...and Horns, ring a bell?
(hint, it's on the left). i.e. it's what i wanted to play since a long...long while. You can guess how happy i was when i heard that there would be tieflings in nwn2...
What the froggle rock do we care if it gimps our pc due to screwed up ECL, it's all about the costume props! If humans could go red and grow horns, i'd make-do anyhow...but we can't, so i'll stick with a normal human
Blah to everyone who voted noes on that tissue.

1/4 of alfa being approximately what exactly? 2 dozen people? 2 dozen tieflings in all of faerun is still pretty damn rare, isn't it?danielmn wrote:A. An extremely rare occurance of race mixture that apparently 1/4th of ALFA wants to play, making the race not that rare of an occurance.
The difference being is that they dont want to play them in any other PW. If any other PW met their standard, don't you think they would already play there?C. A race that is causing major controversy, nevermind that the issue is such a minor one, whereby a select group of players constantly complains about not being able to play them in ONE of many PW's available on the platform.
I still believe ALFA has a high standard of RP. What is wrong with people wanting to play a race (that ships with the game, no less) in this PW? Doesn't that say something about the quality of our players and DMs? I think it great that some people would rather spend their time arguing and debating the point of having them here than simply walking to another PW and starting one up immediately. It shows they care and want us to get better.
Trivia fact:
Tiefling is a german word, meaning so much as "dweller of the deep" (if you wrote it Teifling, it would mean "devil-creature").
Using german language in an english game setting to describe an evil race is outright discriminatory and racist! Therefore, this discussion is invalid until we change the race's name!

The power of concealment lies in revelation.
This may be true, but you're German, and therefore evil. You can't be trusted.Alara wrote:Trivia fact:

Swift, in response to your queries, I will give an answer that accurately reflects my feelings and how much I really do care about this issue....
Meh.
As I see you've left out an important point or two from my last post, I'll reiterate....
Not that anyone will be able to play a Damn thing if we don't get our servers into beta...
So before you complain, work the toolset so at least we'll be able to play SOMETHING...and let's worry about the Tiefling issue that's been blown way out of proportion because the complainers have nothing else to complain about atm later.

<Castano>: danielnm - can you blame them?
<danielmn>: Yes,
<danielmn>: Easily.
"And in this twilight....our choices seal our fate"
Producing a set of script appendages that can easily be added to stock NPCs to let them react appropriately to freakish PCs would go a long way to persuading DMs that they should be allowed in.

I refered to the fact that i have had this avatar since erm...well since a long long while, at least a year before nwn2 even came out with tieflings, so knowing that it's a tad obvious i'd be interested in playing one. But i really don't hold grudge for you to not getting it...not like i'd remember how long people have their avatar either. Of course, the artwork is rather crude and gory and disrespectful, but...that's just Purgatori, and that's a bit of me too, till i take the time to update that profile anyways.
To put this back on topic a tad (for a dead horse anyway).
I don't know on what basis the planetouched were restricted from player character options. I am guilty of not reading the administrative decisions and reasons behind it.
But It's ALFA! a pw which has one of the harshest application policies. As a result, it has one of the most mature crew of people roleplaying around. Sure, we had a few leaks back in the time of the "thousand members" (i am one of them!

While it's true that npc reactions toward tieflings aren't hard-scripted or whatnot, the same could be said of Drows in nwn1. You can't script for every race combo out there, anyways. And sure, there were a few drows on the surface and around cities (even inside at times), but to be honest, life wasn't as easy for them as people might think. Actually it was hell in pixels for most. In other words, people who didn't like the idea of drow PC didn't see a drow every day...or at least for very long. But drow PCs were accepted in alfa, and players had the option of trying it, even if it was very hard and knew it full well. Why not do the same for tieflings? I don't think tieflings are seen as much of a threat as drows, who have armies and are reknowned for raiding etc., tieflings are individuals.
And the very first truth of alfa is always the same: without a DM, there is no ALFA. So tiefling players will have to look out for dms who want to have tieflings around their quests, and dms who don't want to deal with them will be free to choose. And it's no big deal if a tiefling arrives on your server and you dms dislike them, ALFA members can TALK too. It happened to me as a drow and it was ok. Discussion between dms and players is always key in every situations...and most players will understand the stance of a dm if he doesn't feel they should be around and say it honestly; communication is the holy grail of ALFA.
It's just sad to have less options in this PW as a player, especially since we are, i assume , all mature and able to make sure our experience doesn't ruin that of others.
