Thanks, the feeling is mutual! Seems I have a lot of reading to do to even begin to catch up on stuff.

Re: Dwarf clan
*sighs*
Well everyone, I am sorry to announce that this looks like a "fail".
It doesn't look like any campaign is actually forthcoming and the attrition of PCs to death, player absence, and server relocation pretty much leaves this one dead in the water.
Depending on what happens with the 2 PC rule, I'll likely be retiring Kelnar soon and returning to my old temp. ret. character.
For those of you that I sucked in with false hope and promises I am sorry. You may now convert to Shar and nurse your bitterness planning for the coming great darkness of all things.

Re: Dwarf clan
My apologies. I've been keeping silent here on this issue because I did not feel at liberty to speak of viigas' absence until just a couple days ago.
I feel a lot of the lack of a dwarf campaign is my responsibility - viigas was all lined up and eager to go on this, hopefully starting in December. We had discussed expanding his Underdark areas and building a story line around the introduction of the new areas. Then he dropped from sight. I was concerned, but his professional life was busy and he was often being sent abroad to meet with clients. Then I got a PM from him that shook me up badly:

I went awol abruptly and while it will seem idiotic - Im sorry for that and know I thought of you when the storm struck youre region...
Me and lena did stupidly stopped some bikers to enter her club with weapons 2 month ago and the next night we had a visit at home where they beat us up pretty bad and burned down our home. Neighbours noticed the situation and saved us but Lena is still under care hooked up to lifesupport.
I managed better with a amputated arm, a blinded eye and loss of balance. Neighbours had alarmed police who chased the 3 bikers as they left, the 3 crashed and died in that run.
our old life is no more, might never be. Who would ever think last years many misshaps could end up like this.. my psycologist been telling me to try bring forth the positiv things so with that in mind:
old friend.. care for yours, show them youre appreciation of having them near and make the best of every moment, life is clearly to fragile.
You have made this old dwarf a happy lad over the recent years, I fully enjoyed beeing given the opportunity to make a mark on TSM and Felbarr in particular but however hard it feels I better say that as of now I find it unlikely to see me getting back. just typing with one hand is a bugger but if I do return I might play a onelegged pirat with a hook for a hand.
I hope I can retake my statement of leave but for the time beeing I will focus on the important stuff and make sure Im at lenas side when she wake
viigas wrote:It might sound silly but it sure feels good to have a "stout friend" whom I can speak to yet never actually met.
Lena woke up 2 days ago so the sun in my life just went up again. Still along way to zenit so to say but as some old felbarr saying goes - the one thing you can be sure of if you have a dwarf locket up in a barrel of ale the barrel will get emtied sooner then you think..
The doctors have worked wonders on her and for once (pun intended) the insurance companys worked swiftly and work to demolish the wreck of a house will start next week and a new will be standing ready as she will be allowed to leave hospitalI have allready taken up a position designing the house so wheelchairs will be moving freely and I be damn if I let this kill my spirit.
Bought a laptop and my neighbour gave me his old NWN CDs so dont be surprised if I log in one day even if its just to enjoy the sights. Gonna try out a program that convert speech to text now, the one hand truly buggs me BIG time, typing takes forever haha...
I raise my axe to one who stands tall among us. I apologize to those who I have let down here. If there is still some spark of interest in dwarven delvings, please let me know.viigas wrote:Back here things change, Lena been awake daily now for near 2 week and prognos look great while memory of past time is either weak or gone totally, she do remember most if not all regarding our life but the attack as such is a black void, some survival instinct doctors say, but she have trouble remember new things and in a foul temperament thanks to that.. my little fighter that is...
Im in rehab for my lost arm and have slowly start to accept I wont be working with my old profession anymore, likely not atleast, one should not give up... as the aiding stuff like voicecontrolling and specialmade keyboard just is to slow and I get frustrated and compare everything with how it was before. A american specialist of prothesis (?) is actually coming here in 3 weeks time presenting a new "mechanical hand" that hook up to nervends at shoulder and a few patient in US have proven really quick at task when it comes to computers so that will be intresting, the nervsignal controlling part even is able to replace the computermouse with some kind of mindcontrol and how sickly cool would nnot that be.
As for ALFA and felbarr... Im keeping my mind buissy thinking of how I could plan and maybe run small stuff that together could build upto something that hint of a bigger world whhile not play the bigger thing out live but cant see meself DMing by aid of this voicecontrolled programs as its just to slow.. dropping stuff might work well but we all know the swiftness needed to "avoid catastrofic situations" and a pack of dropped giants wont go away simply for me telling them ...haha... the same goes for "ingame typing" as I used to rely heavily on detailed tells explaining atmosphere as once Im done the player will be in a whole different spot. But I could possibly find a whole different style to DM, adding in more explain of atmosphere by plyer looking for fact pre-session and I then can do it by PM/MAil where time is not the factor working against me... or this new machanical hand and its controlsystem might even speed up typing and if so I might be able to stick to what I like... I been told that either way I will have to accept any aiding equipment will be focus draining so I guess no more maraton sessions but again, life is challeging and demands that we adjust so Ill guess I do that.
As for telling others and players.. I appreciate if you somehow explain you have contact with me and that RL been what it been for me, I dont mind you just tell how it is as plainly as possible but that we are on path of recovery and untill I work out how to DM again without risking to kill of everyone due "voicecontrolled missclicks" I simply wont DM but will return in some shape or form.
Im thinking a first step to be part of Felbarr again could be to cowork those statics we discussed once, while you have to do the actual build I can handle the text needed like in dialog and notes and stuff. That is if you still find adding statics a option, unsure how youre life and schedule looks or where youre focus be in SM.
If there be dwarfs about I might even think up a way to DM introduce the statics which could ontop beeing basic stuff add in a IC way to have toons visit part of the lowroad which I personally love due the IC history tied into Felbarr but maybe today all players in SM know of it and been there.
Ill try be more regular here in future, but tomoorow I be looking on a flat as we think this be a easier way to return to life then start in a house with whatever memory and fear that will bring with it without build a unpassable wall around us... I just realized I lost all my referense material for D&D, books aswell as digial stuff.. wow.. crap... another issue to bring up to insurance
Take care greybeard and enjoy time with youre family, I belive we talk again soon

That provokes an "oh my god" from me. Never played any substantial amount with viigas, but definitely an adored member of the community... if you're reading this man, take good care of you and yours. Horrifying tale, best with recovery, rehab and all that road ahead.

Oh god
So many good times with viigas. Horrible thing to have happened but I am glad to see he is trying to keep positive.

Oh god, indeed
I feel quite shaken up after reading this.
Been playing quite a lot with Viigas back in the nwn1-days. But now a game does not seem so important anymore.
Axes high, as you've said yourself so many times. My thoughts are with you and Lena.

Re: Dwarf clan
This doesn't get less surreal with rereading. I don't think I can accurately put my feelings into words. I want to do something to help as best I can from 3000+ miles away. Can we set up something to donate to Viigas and Lena? Can I send food or something? Can someone send me his address so at the very very least I can bake cookies and overnight them to Sweden? I feel like I want to do something. Anything.
