What people think of ALFA
Moderator: ALFA Administrators
Yes, I was referring to NWN1, which is currently all you can play at ALFA other than the occasional beta test.

How I see ALFA...hrm.
I've seen OOC things transfered to IG, I've seen people/dms run off, run out, I've seen high level players who have a tendancy to bash on anyone or anything that takes away from their time with dm's, I've seen attitudes of ownership by both players and dms. I've waded through OOC crap, including insults. And have at times been made to feel a complete outsider.
All of these things are not a majority of my experience. I've seen those that can keep meta meta, I've seen players/dms treated respectfully, I've seen high level players be more than happy to be around lowbies and have wonderful rp with them without starting drama/b.s., I've seen attitudes of cooperation in which a place belongs to all, and not just a select few. I've grown to know several people I admire and respect through OOC chat, who build me up almost everyday. ANd I have been made to feel included.
I have worked with administration behind the scenes, I've worked with Admissions, I've worked with awesome teams of dm's. I continue to work with an awesome team, that makes me feel included and is available for me.
It might depend on when you experience the good before the bad, it might have to do with an individuals patience, and an individuals willingness to let things slide off of their shoulders. It might have to do with whom they experience first...might have to do with staying out of the OOC alltogether.
I am still here, though there have been times when I thought I absolutely would leave, because of the seriousness and b.s. of situations in a place where things are meant to be fun. There is no way of knowing, I still might one day, if someone tips me over the edge. Which is kinda sad, considering I am in charge of Retentions.
I am looking forward to NWN2 servers, to see these places in their glory, no matter if we have just 2 or a complement of 12. I don't envision playing anymore before then, I've experienced too much butting head against wall over the past year to even be enthuesed about playing.
For the most part, I've enjoyed my playing time, and will continue to enjoy trying to make ALFA an awesome place to play in. My 2 cents, I suppose.

Gamespy hosts that master server, so unless people stop playing they will continue to host it. They are still hosting master servers for BG and BG2.Danubus wrote:Maybe for NWN1. Bioware didnt make NWN2.Eventually I suspect Bioware will close down their Master server and I believe that will be the end of online NWN.
Ah, that's good to know.

I have been very happy building my own module, and playing on servers that are not as "immersive".
ALFA has a tough goal.
I obviously do not hold the same enthusiasm as those that have stayed on.
Its good to stop in once in a while and see where you folks are going...
Anyway best of luck to everyone here!
What do I think of ALFA...
I think the biggest mistake of creating a uniform seemless world is the fragmentation of the servers.
I think if players can travel the realms then DMs should be able to follow them. DMs should be global.
GDM's for the win
