Oh dear dog. You are going to bring back the vault and people's old characters rather than having it be a fresh start? Im out.

I'm sure they're bringing up the vault only for tech-related reasons. Everyone starting fresh at lvl 1 sounds fun. :) *goes to work on his Disarm technique*

This is a dumb idea. We don't need to splinter ALFA further or create child servers outside of our main sect. Now we have people like Duncan making their own servers to try to fit into ALFA, just so he can move his clique there.

I really wish we could focus our efforts on improving what we have. That'd be really, really nice!

I am not supportive of bringing back the vault.

I am supportive of 1-2 NWN1 servers we could use to attract NWN1 gamers to our community and to offer more gaming to our members so they are not off gaming elsewhere. ALFA has to compete for time with other platforms. Objecting to this on the basis of splintering - might as well object to all the Minecrafting going on in irc. Clearly our members play other games. When they play DnD I'd like it to be here.

No. We are not resurrecting NWN1 ALFA from the past. Everything would be new PCs, and basically what Castano said. The idea is to make use of pre-existing resources for areas that are not available for us in NWN2.

I just got done building a new 'super' computer. The other computer with all the nwn1 alfa haks crashed and burned. I wasted tons of hours dming and toolseting in NWN1, I might be tempted to do it again if a team does form.

I vastly prefer NWN 1 as a platform, but I think the best that would come out of this is a brief flurry of enthusiasm and activity, and maybe even critical mass, on the NWN 1 server(s), while NWN 2 lies barren.

We probably should be consolidating, not expanding, and while NWN 1 is another offer, we're late to the party to snatch up any people from the wider community. We left behind a fair amount of folk when we made the transition, and NWN 1 numbers online surpass NWN 2 without much effort whenever I check (admittedly I check at weird times, I'm not seeing any ALFA activity either, despite so many new campaigns), but if we pick up people from the wider community, I'm unsure they will be added value for NWN 2.

I guess it's still worth a shot, and, at the very least, will likely bring a short burst of fun when we actually concentrate on one or two servers for a while. And if we do, I suggest that we take that lesson to heart and stop the scraping of too little butter over too much bread.

Cheers,
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

Agreed. Only, the other way around. We barely have enough people to support ALFA as it is now, getting more people to support it is going to be troublesome. Sure, we have one person who's excited and willing to work. It'd just be nice if that work was on what we currently have, not a side project. Either move fully back to NWN1, or stick with NWN2. ALFA doesn't have the policies or worker drones to support being multi-platform.

I agree it could further divide the community. I'm a big nwn1 fan, though, and only resort to peeking in on nwn2 because I found no place to my liking in nwn1. If ALFA had an nwn1 server I'd definitely check it out.

Veilan, I have no idea when you are checking ALFA. We had numerous sessions this week. You should be around on weekends on MS/WHL to grab some DM attention. Saturday was the best this week that I saw. Anyways Tech has a nice query for activity you can rely on rather than spot checking at some dark hour when people are asleep or at work.

Yep we all agree you two don't want alfa to meddle in resurrecting a NWN1 server. Feel free to keep on posting telling us in 'different' words on how you disagree with this thought concept.

Yeah good point, Electryc. From here on out, no posting in this thread more than once, people. Electryc has spoken.

I need to know the secret of Eshowdow's Promise, Electryc. :)

Vastiani could try to intimidate some dinosaurs maybe on the trip. Rosa Bitter could talk to them in a salty fashion as well. Any remains we could bread and deep fry for Whyo. Any pygmies we might happen to bring back could be put in purple and gold livery as little wildmen to bring to all the best parties.

There were definitely a good few people "left behind" in transitions. Their computers may have caught up by now though if lured back in with an occasional NWN1 event.
ALFA NWN2 PCs: Rhaggot of the Bruised-Eye, and Bamshogbo
ALFA NWN1 PC: Jacobim Foxmantle

Way to miss the point with passive aggressive 'words'.
