As I recall...I'd been playing the original NWN for a while and a friend happened to mention the depth of the online community, so I decided to see what it was all about. I'd never played a game online before (multiplayer for me up to that point had been friends with extra console controllers or the occasional LAN match of Descent or Quake). I quickly learned that I was the kind of player who wanted to *really* get into the game/world and live my character - and see all the folks around me doing the same.
So, after a year or so of trial and error with different servers and even starting my own, short-lived one; I stumbled across ALFA and put in an application. God only knows what I wrote in that pitch, lol, but I guess it was decent enough to get a pass.
The following 8+ years (holy crap, I can't believe it's been that long) were filled with on-again, off-again (as RL permitted) amazing adventures with some of the most creative and immersive players and DMs it has ever been my privilege to know.
