It's an apt metaphor for something that has been apparent to me. Got a problem with that, troll someone who cares.
First Character: Zyrus Meynolt, the serene Water Genasi berserker. "I am the embodiment of the oceans; serene until you summon the storm." Zyrus: http://tinyurl.com/9emdbnd

Second Character: Damien Collins, the atypical druid. "What? Being a stick in the mud is boring. No pun intended grins"

What a silly idea. Mother has never really been interested in what is good for ALFA or not - he just enjoys popping by every three or so years to stir the shit up, then fades away when it seems that we haven't yet all joined the cult of mother.

The cult of mother is no cult. It is the one true religion and the one true god. Pity the heathen who thinks otherwise.

The fact is, I am trying to help and I am one of the more creative folks to come through this joint in the last 12 years. My help was not wanted by those in power in the past and so I would go.

In those days my frustration was due to the uber elite eurotrash defenders of egalitarianism and bureaucracy flying into their group-think nerd rage at anyone who didn't play pocket pool over math problems stonewalling me. Who wants to operate in an environment like that anyway. The idea is fun, homeboy.

Even more true at this point is that I would really just like a place to build and DM a game that gets my irish up. I am tired of MMO's and would like a place to be with some kindreds. What I don't want is people whose idea of fun is the infrastructure ruining the fun for people whose idea of fun is the damned game.

Yall need to realize that when ya start running yer mouf ya aint speaking fer no one but yerself. Aint all that complex a concept really.

Theres been plenty of people promising thru the years here to lead everyone else to the promised land if everyone'd just trust em, but those 'good ol' boys' are still makin the rules because theyve stuck around puttin in enough work thru the years to earn themselfs a little bit a trust from the rest of us. There is a reason theyre getting voted in time and again; theyve actually stuck around and worked towards making the place better. The way to bring on some change is easy -- start contributing and earn a little trust fer yerselfs, then go on assuming more authority and makin the changes you see the place needing.

This mother might very well be a bag of hot air and a crazy, but a little passion is good fer a project. We are a group of people partaking in a really silly ass hobby, telling people they are volunteering their free time wrong aint any more helpful than telling people you will lead them to the promised land. I want to work on a new server with my free time; maybe it aint what ALFA needs, but I sure as shit dont want to spend my free time on some OAS, or something similar, that just aint my idea of fun.

Exchanging ideas is a good thing. Getting angry that others dont share their belief in yer ideas is totally ridiculous. This aint life or death here.

Yus, I R angry, hear me roar!!! Or something....

By all means, make another server. Just recognize that making another server alone won't do much in the way of making change. Which is the genereal precept of the post, I thought. But correct, it is your time, use it how you like.

It is worth noting that the 'old boys club' pretty much died with NWN1. The only current admin that held admin positions in the NWN1 days (that I recall) is Hialmar, who has stepped in repeatedly as Infra Admin. Maybe Curm? NWN1 has been gone for awhile, I do not recall who followed as DM Admin after ava. I think Zelnolf held Tech Admin briefly near the end of NWN1 after Murkys long term came to an end.

Regardless, the 'old boys club' hasnt had any influence over the Admin team for pretty much all of our NWN2s time. On top of that, if you look at the current list of DMs, you will find plenty of names that have only been members since NWN2 went live and since it is DMs and staff alone that get to vote for 4 out of the 5 admin positions, I fail to see how the old timers like myself have such an overwhelming influence as some claim.

They certainly don't listen to me, I can assure you of that :P

But making opinions known on the forums is so much more fun than actually playing.

Let's make a new rule: You can post once on the forums for every 2 hours you spend in-game or in the toolset/developing.

Enough ass-hattery and personal slights says I. Lets lock this s**t down and move on to a more meaningful use of our spare time.
