Make sure the mac has a decent video card (Nvidia 9600 or ATI x2000 or better)

It works quite well on my Mac mini 2010 (GeForce 320M) so any mac should run it well.

That's the set-up I've been using with my macbook pro for about a week or so now and the only issue I had was when trying to move my toon with just the trackpad. So I dusted off my mouse and all is well. There may be some differences in the toolset but I need to play around with it more before I can say definitively.

*edit* I forgot that I had to mess around a bit with my video drivers, if you run into any issues just let us know.

Good luck. :)

Could anyone using a mac check out the DM client and the toolset and let me know if they work? Thanks!

same here.

And I had to modify my graphics drivers as well. Apple's did not work so I had to install NVidia's ones.

Edit: just tested the DM client and it works well.

Anyone tried it using Parallels instead? Trying to decide which way to go with Lou's new laptop.

Never tried with Vmware (I don't have Parallels) but it's slow with most 3D games on my machine so I don't think it will be working.

ok, I have the game installed on my (wife's) new iMac, using Windows 7 I get an error saying that the game can't find a 3dx compatible system (graphics card I assume). The Mac has an ATI Radeon HD 5750 installed. Is this a driver issue? If so, any thoughts on which drivers I need or where to get them?

Thanks,

The best is to install the last drivers provided by the graphics card manufacturer (ATI here).
Apple is very late on drivers usually and even more on bootcamp than OSX.

Things appear to be working ok except on the DM client. When ever I right click on a player, DM or other object, the client crashes. This was happening in two areas so far, Silverymoon east and west. I changed miece and it made no difference. Video drivers are fairly fresh, within six months though I haven't found the most recent yet, I don't think that's going to matter for a game this old.

Is this a familiar bug for anyone or just something unique to a Mac?
Running a full version of Win 7 on Bootcamp on an iMac.
Thoughts?

Thanks,

I seem to remember a DM contextmenu bug that was plaguing folks for a while; is your DM avatar an unusual / ECL / planetouched or other similar race? There may be an issue with too many racial/class abilities on the right-click contextmenu leading to the crash. I'd recommend trying a human Fighter DM avatar and see if it makes a difference.

If not, perhaps try installing Skywing's Client Extender (post on it in New Players' forum), as that resolves a lot of DM client crash issues, and provides useful errorlogs on the crashes that it doesn't fix (which I can pass along to Skywing for future versions).

AcadiusLost, you are correct as usual, changing Avatars seems to have helped. I was able to dm most of a session but I crashed several times, once accessing the inventory of a possessed npc, then while on the travel map. I was not able to recover on the travel map, I just kept crashing. Also, I don't seem to be able to use the grab-box control feature for handling groups of NPCs, though, this never worked well anyway.
