Rapid Shot with slings, dart,axes

Post by dergon darkhelm »

Are these engined as "ranged weapons" in the NWN2 engine so that the
rapid shot" feat would apply. I know that crossbows are excluded but can't find out much else.

By PnP they are.... ( "Ranged weapons are thrown weapons or projectile weapons that are not effective in melee. ")

Just want to make sure that the NWN2 engine thinks so.

So why not crossbows with quick reload? How does PnP do it? :chin:

I think your question is the answer. "Rapid shot" can be used with crossbow, but only with the pre-req of "rapid reload" (note: this answer only has a confidence level of 70%)

Xbows should benefit from the Rapid Shot feat once you also have Rapid Reload, but don't - at least not completely. As I understand it, Rapid Reload gives one extra attack with a crossbow - provided you have more than one attacks per round. So having an attack progression of 6/1 would do the trick, and Rapid Shot too. But having both will not give you three attacks with a crossbow.

Although extra attacks from a magical source (like haste) do seem to work.

Borked in NWN 2 though, guess it's another of Obsidian's lovelinesses we have to deal with.

Not quite. Rapid Reload: The time required for you to reload your chosen type of crossbow is reduced to a free action (for a hand or light crossbow) or a move action (for a heavy crossbow).

So with Rapid Reload and a hand/light crossbow, you can fire as fast as a REAL bow, so you get extra attacks at BAB +6 and/or with Rapid Shot. However you couldn't do this with a Heavy Crossbow, still stuck at 1 shot per round no matter how high your BAB or whatever feats you have, hasted, etc. Without the feat, you actually can fire only once every other round with a heavy.

But yes, regardless nwn2 doesn't quite match up.
