Rulebook Change

Post by Rotku »

A small addition is been made to the ALFA Rulebook. Please take a quick read over the following so you are aware of the change. The change has been approved by both the Player and Infra Admin, as per Section 9 of the Rulebook.

The change will be applied from the time of posting onwards and will not be applied Retroactively.

Old Version
7.4 Censure Record
Each formal censure is added to the player's censure record. With a first-level censure in the player's history a second-level offence may thus lead to a permanent ban, or vice versa. It is also possible for a player to get banned permanently after committing 3 consecutive first-level offences. Out-of-game censure levels are cleared after 6 months of good behaviour except in the case of a permanent ban, while in-game censure levels are always permanent
New Version (with changes highlighted):
7.4 Censure Record
Each formal censure is added to the player's censure record. Censures will be recorded against both the player and their CDKey.
Reasoning
Below I have quoted AL directly, as he managed to explain the change in better words than I could.

"I believe the issue that prompted this was the "My roommate/offspring/cat is an ALFA member, but plays using my computer and disks and CD-Key but really they're not me, so it's not my fault what he/she/it did" defense.

So, the rule change conditionally legitimizes CD-Key sharing, with the acknowledgement that the sharers are jointly and severably responsible for actions using that CD Key. (Share At Your Own Peril, more or less)."
