Dead

Post by Japan001 »

I want to kill a chicken and a dog killed me. :) yes i tried to do it with my own hands cause i havenÄ't found a place to buy weapons in shadowdale - i am in asandadale or something loike that. so my question will my character be deleted when my corpse is gone? and i guess i can't do anything when i am dead or? :)

Ashabenford? And you can wait for deliverance as long as you wish. Your corpse lies where you left it until the next server reset, and even after that you could still be raised. You can also roll up a new character any time you want to. This renders your previous character dead, even if he wasn't yet. :depress:

Unless you have any reason to believe some kind soul will shell out a king's ransom in diamonds to bring your toon back to the world of the living, I suggest you start your new character.

It might get deleted or not, but short of a bug you can only log on with this PC in the morgue, so no, there's nothing you can do unless you managed to managed to make a friend that's willing to pay for a rezz. Also, aside from shops in town, you can use the merchant in the starting area. And lastly, attacking non hostile spawns is usually not a good idea. Their friends might take offense. ;)

The dead PC will continue to appear in your record when you log in until someone with access to the vault clears out the PC. If you enter the game, this dead PC will be in the morgue, unless, as noted above, someone has chosen to raise the character from the dead (highly unlikely for a lvl 1 PC without lots of IC connections).

The deletion from the vault is only done at player request.

You can roll up a new PC at any time. However, once you enter game with this *new* PC, you can never go back to an old one, even though it may still be in your record on the vault.

Also, my first ALFA PC was killed by a deer outside of Shadowdale....so you're not alone.

One more comment ....sounds like animal factions on SD might be screwy. You killed a chicken and a dog went hostile?

Per kest, at least a farmer's dog killing chicken thieves has a thin veneer of IC-ness. Clucking, blood n' feathers everywhere must've made Rover go bananas.

Shops in SD town should all open at dawn, true mostly for the server's other settlements as well, though there are a couple of rare spots with extended hours (just not in SD town that I can recall).

Also, though it may be too late for your current character, there should be an NPC in the starting area (before you pick which town to begin in) from whom you can buy basic equipment, to represent what your PC would have had already when arriving in the Dales, alleviating the need for endless numbers of "I lost all of my stuff, but I found a sack of 300 gp" backstories.

Also, with regard to the day/night cycle, one game-hour passes every 7 minutes of real-life time, so you can check the server clock, and estimate when "dawn" will be in real-time, then plan to log back in closer to that time.

(example, it's 02:00 onserver, 4 game-hours till "dawn" at 06:00, 4x7 = 28 minutes RL time, so if you go make a sandwich or read a chapter of a book or something, then try the server again, you should be set.)

Sorry that your early days on Shadowdale have been bumpy ones, getting the feel for playing in ALFA takes a bit of time, and is best done with a few experienced PCs around to help you get settled in. Here's hoping things look up in the next few days for you.

*sniffle* The chickens of shadowdale. Brings back memories.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

heh, i rolled up a mage on TVS back in the day. 4hp. Chickens are 2,5 times as powerful.
It was the shortest living mage ever created,- an arrow flew past him, and he died from a combination of shock and air pressure. It was grand.
